Astus 26.5: versatility and transportability for coastal cruising

Presented at Grand Pavois 2025, the Astus 26.5 marks a new stage for the Breton shipyard. The fruit of a fifth collaboration with VPLP design, this trimaran combines transportability with a cruising program. Its dimensions and layout make it ideal for short-handed coastal sailing.

With its 7.90-meter central hull and equally long floats, the Astus 26.5 is the largest model ever built by Astusboats. Designed for fast cruising, it retains the brand's DNA: a folding trimaran that's lightweight, easily transportable and suitable for a wide range of waters.

A trimaran designed for portability

Astusboats' signature system of sliding floats on telescopic tubes reduces the width from 5.80 m for sailing to 2.52 m for road transport. An intermediate position of 2.99 m facilitates mooring between catways, while maintaining high stability in port. This device allows ramp launching and out-of-water storage at home, limiting dry docking costs.

Fast-cruising hull and appendages

Designed by VPLP design, the hull plan adopts a tulip shape, offering increased interior volume while retaining a slim waterline. Inverted stem floats and a raised forward freeboard provide lift and passage through the swell. The pivoting centreboard and lifting rudder allow beaching and facilitate manoeuvring in shallow draught areas (0.35 m centreboard up, 1.80 m centreboard down).

Interior fittings for four people

The Astus 26.5 features a forward cabin with toilet compartment, saloon with galley and icebox, and 1.80 m headroom at the entrance. This layout makes it possible to envisage small cruises with family or friends, with four berths. The cockpit is fitted with coamings for improved crew protection.

Three versions according to navigation program

The model will be available in three configurations:

  • Leisure : 25 m² mainsail, 11 m² jib, 30 m² gennaker.

  • Cruise sail area equivalent to that of the Leisure version, but equipped for extended coastal cruising.

  • Sport : 28 m² mainsail, 13 m² jib, 34 m² gennaker for a regatta-oriented program.

Construction and motorization

Constructed in infused polyester, the trimaran has a light displacement of 1,100 to 1,150 kg, depending on version. It is approved in category C for 5 persons and D for 7. Maximum outboard power is 10 hp, sufficient for harbor maneuvers and anchoring approaches.

Availability and presentation

The prototype sailed in the summer of 2025 and will be presented at the Grand Pavois boat show in La Rochelle in September. Marketing has been launched, with a base price of around ?90,000 including sails.
