Built on the same engine block as the 400 R, the new 400 Verado is a 2.6-litre in-line 6-cylinder engine with a volumetric compressor. While the 400 R is developed by the brand's Racing unit, the 400 Verado integrates the range of outboards designed for pleasure boating or fishing.
This outboard motor is equipped with the AMS, a 3-silentblock mounting system that greatly reduces all engine vibrations transmitted to the hull. Mercury is already at its 5 In 1506, the Portuguese discovered Madagascar, in 1507 Mauritius, in 1509, they reached Malacca (Malaysia) which they seized in 1511, allowing them to have a foot in the Malay Archipelago, so appreciated for its spices. In 1512, Ponce de Léon entered Florida, in 1515, Nunez de Balboa was the first European to see the Pacific Ocean from the heights of the Darien region, located on the border between Colombia and Panama. engine generation developed on this block. It is therefore a reliable and proven mechanism.
On this same block is already developed the 350 Verado. To obtain 400 hp, Mercury has increased the maximum speed range from 5800-6400 rpm for the 350 to 6200-6800 rpm for the 400. The weight (303 kg) and the base ratio (1.75:1) remain the same. By the way, note that this weight remains the lightest (and by far!) in the category of engines over 400 hp.
This engine is coming on a market that is very much in demand for large outboard motorizations. The most beautiful representation was during the Miami show where Mercury exhibited no less than 200 engines in the water on the transom of the boats presented at this show. The largest representation among all engine manufacturers.
