New Sealver Z-Line range, jet-ski or outboard propulsion

The new Sealver Z7

In 2014, Sealver launched its first pneumatic Wave Boat, a boat powered by a semi-rigid. In 2019, the Landes shipyard launched the Z range, a new semi-rigid concept with a new generation hull and the possibility of choosing its type of motorization (jet-ski or outboard).

A semi-rigid or rigid hull powered by a jet ski, this is the invention developed by Patrick Bardon in 2006. Today, Sealver offers 6 models of Wave Boats, all powered by a jet ski.

A new Z range

In 2019, the Landes shipyard launched the new Z range with two models of 6 and 7 m. An 8 m will be released in 2020. The first model presented is the Wave Boat Z7, a semi-rigid 6.96 m (hull length) and 2.48 m wide (hull width). The floats are in 1670 decitex carbon. With its dimensions, the Z7 is on the road gauge.

As with the latest semi-rigid models, the construction gives priority to composite. "He's a semi-rigid, but he sails very well without his floats. It's a question of design, look and stability, of course." explains Clément Faréniaux. The floats are scalable - 48 for the rear diameter and 28 for the front diameter - and much larger than on other semi-rigid boats. "The diameter is thinner at the front since the Z7 is already stable." clément explains. The bow and the hull with strake are incisive to cut the waves.

Facing the Z7 is an incredible feeling of size and space. "It's a 7-meter boat, but it feels bigger because of its evolving floats. We have the same space on board as an 8-metre semi-rigid." adds Clément.

In the forward cockpit, there is a huge sunbathing area with a U-shaped bench seat (which covers an 830-litre trunk) and a cockpit table. In the centre console (most important in the outboard version, there is the fuel tank[Hybris version] and water tank[50 L], the deck shower, the shore power, the refrigerator...

"The console is dedicated to the functionality of the boat, so it is very large. This is where all the equipment and electronics are placed, such as the bilge pump." explains Raffaele Venturelli, Sealver designer.

Quality and design

With this new model, Sealver shipyard offers a more upscale model with neat finishes: CerTek on the ground, six large storage chests, an integrated wakeboard tower[optional], padded cushions for more comfort, an electric windlass.

And indeed, if the feeling of space is important, the feeling of quality is also present.

In the long term, the Z range will replace the current semi-rigid range, which will be reserved exclusively for professionals.

Jet propulsion

The new Z range can be powered by the usual jet ski with a power of 230 to 300 HP, which is fitted behind a central console. In this configuration, the Z7 receives large lateral sunbathing areas that fold back to make it easier to get on board.

Sealver kits are compatible with Yamaha, Kawasaki, Sea-Doo jets.

Outboard propulsion

The new feature of the Z range is the possibility of opting for outboard propulsion from 150 to 250 HP. To do this, Sealver has developed the Hybris fixed module, which is screwed into the space usually reserved for jet skis. "If the customer wants to change propulsion, he will have to go through a dealer again. It is a choice that is made from the beginning and it is not flexible according to your desires" clément explains. This platform will not fit the existing models of the Sealver range since the Z7's hull has been specially developed for this boat.

The Hybris platform is equipped with a cockpit with steering wheel, double seat and three U-shaped seats in the rear.

"With the Hybris module, we now have the opportunity to compare ourselves to "real" boats. They are designed as base boats with an Evinrude outboard motor and the same manoeuvrability." explains Clément.

A new hull

The range - and therefore the Z7 - has been designed on the new HEVO hull for a much smoother and more comfortable navigation. With this hull that limits drag, fuel consumption is also reduced. "The rails are not parallel to the boat, but centred, which creates a positive hydrodynamics. With each wave of catch, the boat accelerates and rubs much less" explains Rafaelle Venturelli.

"With a 300 HP jet, we reach a speed of 44.8 knots. The 1 Feature stories strake creates an air cushion which allows, even in rough seas, to slide on the water. In addition to improving aerodynamics, the strake stabilizes the boat." rafaelle Venturelli explains.

The increase in jet power allows us to build a larger boat, capable of accommodating more people[10 people on board], but maintaining good performance.
