Play 24, the perfect Mediterranean boat

Rand Boat's Play 24

After the Picnic 18 and Leisure 28, Danish shipyard Rand Boat launches the Play 24, a 7.44 m dayboat with huge sunbathing areas at the front and rear. Declined in electric propulsion, outboard or inboard, petrol or diesel, this boat presents itself as a"perfect Mediterranean boat".

The Danish shipyard Rand Boat produces dayboats with a fairly similar design - clean lines, simplistic layouts, grey hull, black fender and bilge - for daily use. But if the design is similar, their uses are different, as Carl Kai Rand, the site manager and designer, explains.

Thus, if Leisure is for leisure and Picnic, as its name suggests at a picnic on the water, Play 24 is a fun and fast boat for sport.

"The Play 24 is the perfect Mediterranean boat" carl explains. Thus, there is a huge sunbathing area on the back with a beautiful swimming platform. The pilot bench can accommodate 3 people and its multi-position backrest, which it shares with the sunbathing area, is clever. It serves both as a driving seat and as a headrest for sunbathing. The step between the rear space and the central space makes it possible on the one hand to free up height for the engine compartment, but also to prevent water from entering the interior of the boat.

The cockpit is central, very simple and has a large dashboard space for instrumentation. It is protected by a half-height windscreen which can be optionally electric and enlarged.

The front, which is accessed via the side passages, has a very large U-shaped bench seat with a table that goes down electrically to become an additional sunbathing area. A bimini covers almost the entire walkaround bridge to protect its occupants from the sun.

On the rear, in the outboard version, there is a large storage space under the sunbathing area, while in the inboard version the engine will be used. An electric version is also available, especially for inland waters or canals.

The layout is very simple, as the designer explains "The boats are simple and clean. We are not looking to add extra equipment. The idea is to enjoy a good time on the water."

The Play 24 receives 115 to 200 Mercury HP for a maximum speed of 32 to 40 knots. The inboard version offers a choice between a 170 HP diesel or a 250 HP Mercruiser 4.5L for a higher speed than the outboard, with 39 and 42 knots respectively.

The electric version - outboard or inboard - offers a choice between 20 kW and 55 kW with maximum speeds of 12 and 28 knots.
