The Rand Roamer 29, a modular boat for year-round adventure outings

Danish brand Rand has unveiled its latest model, the Rand Roamer 29. This large, open hull has been designed for year-round adventure programs on the water.

A boat for year-round adventure

Rand Boats has set itself the goal of developing a very wide range of boats, each one corresponding to one of 36 boating experiences covering 90% of boating uses. With the Rand Roamer 29, a name that sounds strangely like Land Rover, the Danish manufacturer is presenting a 4x4 designed for adventure. CEO Carl Rand sums it up: "The Roamer experience is all about year-round adventure. There's no need to make the boat comfortable for the family, the idea is to be versatile to do as much freediving, fishing, diving and all sorts of adventure activities. To do this, we've come up with modular systems and a boat capable of going out in committed conditions, with a high bulwark, oversized cockpit and trunk drains."

A multifunction rear deck

The boat can be boarded from either side, via a small bathing platform flanking the motor and a gate, which is perhaps a little unsafe. Each platform conceals a drained storage locker for wet suits and other underwater fishing equipment.

Once in the cockpit, a central double bench seat is located in front of the engine. Its scratch-fastened cushions can be fitted with a variety of accessories and modules designed by Rand to suit different activities. For example, the owner can attach fishing rod holders or a barbecue.

Each module is designed to be stored in lockers under the cockpit floor. A final storage locker, forward of the engine, adds to the volume available for the crew's gear. T-Top roof racks complete the Rand Roamer 29's carrying capacity.

A protected area

Further forward is a second double bench seat, again facing forward, opposite a table. Swivel seats for the pilot and co-pilot create a convivial space at anchor, sheltered by the carbon and stainless steel T-Top. A refrigerator drawer keeps drinks cool under the bench seat.

The two seats, pilot and co-pilot, are comfortable, with wrap-around armrests for fast driving, and are suspended for greater comfort in the waves. They face a full instrument panel, housing 2 attractive multi-function displays. A modern, angular windshield provides effective protection for the crew. If required, a canvas system can be used to create a bivouac cabin.

Comfort and even more storage space

If you reach the foredeck via the side decks, well protected by a high bulwark, you'll discover a forepeak that transforms into a large sunbathing area at anchor. In addition to the possibility of disembarking from the bow, the bow also houses a davit and windlass, accessible under a hood.

Lifting the front of the cabin reveals a large toilet area, sufficiently recessed to guarantee headroom for our guide, a 2-metre Scandinavian! By sliding them under the space available under the floor of the forepeak, the compartment can accommodate inflated paddles.

To meet all customer requirements, the Rand Roamer 29 is available with single or twin outboards, sterndrive or electric drive. With a 300 hp Mercury outboard, it starts at ?203,880 (incl. VAT), at the 2024 price list.
