Special Edition / Suzuki Marine, engines for sport fishing

Suzuki Marine markets powerful and quiet outboard engines. Marine qualities that allow the Japanese engine manufacturer to be present in the world of fishing. These characteristics are particularly evident in sport fishing with the Barracuda Tour, for which Suzuki has been the official engine manufacturer for 6 years.

A no kill bass fishing competition

The Barracuda Tour is an internationally renowned no kill fishing competition that has been held every year for the past 6 years. Organized in the pre-season, this competition brings together nearly 600 passionate competitors divided into 150 crews. The program is simple.

During 3 days, the teams will participate in 3 rounds and will have to fish the most beautiful bars by not exceeding the maximum of 5 catches per round. The fish are then measured and released (no kill). The sizes are then converted into points to determine a winning crew in each category: amateurs, finalists from the selective, partner competitors.

In addition to powering the official fleet, Suzuki also entered two boats in the competition, Barracuda 8s, dressed in "total covering" and equipped with 150 Suzuki bimotorized hp, the brand's true flag bearers.

Outboard motorization for the sport-fisher range

The competition takes place on board boats from the Barracuda range, sport-fishers from 6.50 m to 8.25 m, lent to the crews by the Vendée manufacturer. And on the engine side, Suzuki Marine equips the range of 4 boats: Barracuda 6, 7, 8 and 9, i. e. all the official boats of the competition.

For the past 6 years, Suzuki Marine has been equipping these powerful outboards with boats reserved for competition. It is therefore 42 boats equipped with 4-stroke outboard engines - two of which are dual engines - and a maximum power of 350 HP that compete with the formed seas of the Gulf of Morbihan.

A test laboratory for Suzuki

For the past 6 years, Suzuki has been equipping fishing boats with outboard motors. This is an opportunity for the Japanese engine manufacturer to offer a life-size test to boaters and fishermen. This competition also allows the outboard manufacturer to discuss with the participants the characteristics and use of its engines.

The opportunity to validate in the field and from an international point of view - 15 different nationalities represented - the strong points of the engines: reliability, performance, fuel economy, low CO2 emissions and ease of use.

These characteristics are particularly appreciated by fishermen at sea, during relaxing or more sporting moments!
