A (r)evolution of the 615

Privilege Marine is staying the course, that of high-end multihulls dedicated to offshore cruising! We were able to discover the second Privilčge Series 6 - already three units have been built since the launch in 2016. First glance at the pontoon: the hulls signed Marc Lombard are impressive. Longer, higher and with thinner, straighter bows, they undeniably give an impression of raw power that is far superior to the 615, which it inherits.

A rig to carry canvas

Especially since the sail plan is not to be outdone: the carbon mast - signed Lorima - rises to more than 27 m above the surface. The mainsail with horn is backed by a low overlapping genoa. A staysail is on station for breezy conditions. And the 176 m2 gennaker will boost the potential of this unusual unit in easy wind and downwind conditions.

Safety in the movements on the bridge

The deck layout of the Privilege 6? A perfect compromise between ergonomics, comfort and safety. The wide, unobstructed gangways - always more than 60 cm wide - are protected by a thick bulwark and a rigid stainless steel rail, not to mention the sturdy handrails that run along the deckhouse. The same goes for the steps cut into the front of the deckhouse; they facilitate access to the mast step and genoa tracks. The front deck, with its two trampolines, subtly integrates the famous rostrum, Privilege Marine's trademark. It is more precisely a small central hull, which shelters the owner's cabin. We will talk about it later.

Quality fittings

The mooring equipment is irreproachable with two anchors whose chain is set back for a better centering of the weights, a double davit and of course two windlasses. The cleats, of good size, are well placed.

Comfort in the cockpit

The cockpit, protected by the rigid bimini, offers an outside table, large bench seats - 2 x 1.86 m euros and a large bar on the port side. The ease of movement is optimal thanks to an impressive rear deck that allows you to move from one side to the other without any hindrance. For access to the dock, the tender and of course the sea, there are two large aft skirts. Between them, a hydraulic platform supports the 500 kg payload of the Euro dinghy. In the lowered position, it offers a large surface dedicated to water activities.

The bar on the fly

The large fly bridge is accessible on both sides. Up there, you are well protected by the windshield and the textile bimini. This is where the helm station is installed. We enjoy an excellent view of the water. The current maneuvers are managed from the cockpit, the others remain at the foot of the mast to limit friction. Behind the large helmsman's bench, a solarium with a table of 99 by 76 cm and a U-shaped bench for 8 to 10 people.

Luxury, yachting and pleasure

As soon as you leave the harbor or the anchorage, you will be impressed by the care taken with the soundproofing of the 2 x 110 or 2 x 160 hp euro engines. Hoisting and unfurling the sails, thanks to the electric winches, becomes a simple formality before feeling the incredible serenity that the Privilege Series 6 offers you when sailing. The helm offers a direct and very straightforward control.

During our trials off Les Sables-d'Olonne, the wind was blowing from the northwest at 14 knots. The swell was barely felt as the Series 6 sailed at 7 knots upwind. With the wind on the beam, she was sailing at more than 9 knots with a 17-knot gust of wind recorded by the anemometer.

A surprising amount of space

Of course, it's when we discover the gondola that we once again measure the luxury and comfort offered by the Privilege Series 6. First observation: the volume offered is gigantic, especially since the floor area is incredibly vast and uncluttered. There is a height of 2.21 m under the bars and the opening to the cockpit is 1.44 m wide by 1.87 m high.

We discover a lounge area with two soft armchairs, a square with its table of 140 by 100 cm - it can accommodate five guests, eight with three stools, and finally a card table euros 170 by 63 cm. The materials used - solid oak, leather, ivory microfiber upholstery - contribute to the careful finishing. The large front and side portholes, as well as the large bay window on the cockpit side, guarantee an unobstructed 360° view.

Fully equipped kitchen!

In the starboard hull, the large galley offers two parallel work surfaces of 2.30 m each. This layout is particularly suitable when the boat is sailed by a professional crew, who have a forward cabin. Obviously, the equipment is plethoric : two 160 l refrigerators, a third one of 130 l, a 130 l freezer, a dishwasher and so on. Privilege Marine also offers a layout with the kitchen in the nacelle. The opportunity to specify that, within the limits imposed by the structure of the boat, all the possibilities of arrangements are possible. A custom-made yachteuros

VIP guest cabins

An aft cabin with two single beds that can be converted into a double is also fitted out on the starboard side. Everywhere, bathrooms, toilets, flat screen televisions, wifi, 220 V and USB sockets. In the port hull, we discover a beautiful guest cabin at the back. The height under the bars is 2.10 m. The bed is Queen Size and the ventilation is ensured by three openings. You will note that the doorways are all greater than 50 cm before you get interested in the cabin of the Privilege Series 6.

The highlight of the visit!

For the owner, an incredible suite that occupies the front of the hull and the famous central rostrum. A huge bed - 200 by 160 cm - with plenty of space on the sides, a chaise longue with storage, a desk and a bathroom better than at home: welcome to the ultimate in luxury that a double-hulled yacht can offer.

The opinion of Bateaux.com

If the deck mold is borrowed from the previous model, the Privilčge 615, all the other elements of the Series 6 are new. In the end, a very luxurious catamaran whose owner's cabin will be the envy of many. However, the management of a 20-meter long, almost 10-meter wide and 30-ton weight unit cannot be improvised: the help of a professional skipper is therefore recommended to take advantage of the exceptional comfort of this unit.
