New Windelo 50, for eco-responsible, high-performance yachting

The New Windelo 50 Yachting was launched at the Cannes Yachting Festival in September 2023. It will make its US debut at the Miami Boat Show in February 2024. An upgraded version of this zero-emission eco-built catamaran.

The New Windelo 50 is an evolution of the Windelo 50 model, of which 7 have already been produced. This catamaran, designed for long voyages and round-the-world sailing, combines performance with respect for the environment.

Optimized construction

This model is the result of the collaboration between architects Christophe Barreau and Frédéric Neuman, designer Charlotte Schiffer and the Windelo team. The improvements made to the deck, superstructure, roof and fittings mark a progression in the range.

The revised design and features of the New Windelo 50 aim to improve comfort, style and range, while reducing weight thanks to fewer composite assemblies. In fact, the construction process has been drastically overhauled, reducing the number of molds from 20 to 3 for the nacelle alone! While the productivity gains are substantial, the weight and rigidity gains are also enormous.

A new design

The general line of the deckhouse has been reworked with finesse, incorporating the brand's trademark wave. The front windows of the deckhouse have also been tilted slightly in the negative, giving a more aggressive design to the whole. These are very minor modifications, but they give this catamaran a new silhouette.

The rear terrace extension increases relaxation space, while the sleek, more curved design integrates technical systems and antiskid in the mold for a more dynamic, aerodynamic look.

An ever-innovative layout

The innovative forward cockpit, which centralizes maneuvers and can close completely for optimum protection, remains the key concept of this layout. The convertible nacelle, with sliding doors, maximizes interior/exterior space, adapting the boat to all weather conditions and sailing practices. The aft platform, which tilts at anchor to enlarge the relaxation area, is also an asset of this catamaran.

True to its eco-responsible DNA

Like the rest of the range, the New Windelo 50 is eco-built thanks to an in-depth search for eco-friendly materials, reducing the carbon footprint by 47% with the use of basalt fiber and PET foam. To take this to its logical conclusion, the New Windelo 50 Yachting integrates solar panels of up to 5,680 W, glued to the roof and deck, and a hydrogeneration system during sailing for green-energy, zero-emission sailing. There's no fuel on a Windelo!

These innovations underline Windelo's commitment to sustainability without compromising performance or comfort. The first long round-the-world voyages of the first models demonstrate the reality and practicality of the zero-emission concept.
