The New Windelo 54 replaces the 54. It features a new deckhouse and deck design, and a much-improved finish. This catamaran offers a truly different alternative to its competitors on the market. To create it, the newly-established shipyard called on two architects, Neuman and Barreau, to design their boat. They conceived it as a high-performance sailboat capable of sailing fast and far, while preserving its crew.
An unusual layout
The layout is very special, with a manoeuvring cockpit installed at the foot of the mast in front of the road. All sail and anchor maneuvers are carried out here, in front of the two helm stations. This keeps the crew dry. This position is also very popular during watches. Just behind a sliding glass door is the saloon. It can be fully integrated into the navigation area. A great solution for life on board.
3 or 4 cabins
This catamaran is available with 3 or 4 cabins. While the aft cabins offer double berths, the forward cabins can be configured as double berths, "children's" berths with two bunk beds, or an office with 2 extra berths that fold away along the bulkhead.
An electric motor
The New Windelo 54 is powered by 2 electric motors, which can be backed up by a generator if required. But the 2-day test with 3 people on board shows that diesel can be dispensed with. And yet, in the absence of wind, we used the engine for at least 3 hours, cooked with the oven and induction hob, and finally ran the dishwasher. All with the silence of electric power!
