Tanguy de Lamotte, accompanied by his co-skipper Samantha Davies - christened his new Initiatives-Coeur with great pomp and circumstance the day before the start of the Transat Jacques Vabre. This was a meeting that Bateaux.com attended for the second time, as we were already present for the christening of the former Initiatives-Coeur, which took place during the 2014 Route du Rhum.

A new Heart Initiatives and a new skipper

After the 2016/2017 Vendée Globe, Jeremie Beyou's former Maître Coq was changing over to the colours of Initiatives-C?ur. The IMOCA hydrofoil - 3 e of the single-handed round-the-world race - is the only boat of the 2012 generation to have been fitted with foils. In fact, she has been kept in her Vendée Globe configuration to get a better idea of what she looks like before envisaging future developments on foils, ballast tanks or sails..

The 13th e edition of the Transat Jacques Vabre is Tanguy de Lamotte's last race as skipper of Initiatives-C?ur. He will then hand over to his co-skipper, Samantha Davies, who is embarking on a 2020 Vendée Globe project .

A grand baptism

Tanguy de Lamotte took advantage of participating in the 13 e edition of the Transat Jacques Vabre to christen his IMOCA. And the godfather of the IMOCA hydrofoil is none other than another sportsman who made the French dream for 6 months by sharing his daily life in the European space station: Thomas Pesquet.

Following their meeting in June 2016, a friendship was born and Thomas Pesquet then agreed to become the sponsor of the project (sailing across the oceans to save children) and to participate in a convoy on board Initiatives-C?ur during September.

Thomas Pesquet therefore broke the traditional bottle of champagne on the bow of the red and white monohull in front of 200 employees of Initiatives, K-LINE and VINCI Energies and under the moving gaze of Nathalie Renoux, presenter of the M6 TV news and supporter of the project from the very beginning and sponsor of the first Heart Initiatives .

As with the former IMOCA, a child saved by this solidarity project "1 click = 1 heart" was present. The actor François Damiens was also present to greet his friend for his last race ( NDRL: François was Tanguy's co-skipper in the Transat Jacques Vabre 2013 ).

A solidarity project

The "1 click = 1 heart" project has saved 127 children with heart defects since 2012. And now it's none other than Sam who will take over from Tanguy. For each new fan of the Initiatives-C?ur Facebook page, the sponsor-sponsors, Initiatives and K-LINE are donating 2 euros to the Mécénat Chirurgie Cardiaque association.

The counter already shows 39,000 euros, or the possibility of operating on 3 children. The goal is to be able to save 15 children by the time the boat arrives in Brazil.
