Voiles de Saint-Tropez: the best of the 2017 edition

The famous "Voiles de Saint-Tropez" came to an end on October 8, 2017. A 19th edition marked by splendid weather, regattas organized every day and happiness on land and at sea. An edition that we offer you in a splendid video best of signed Gilles Martin-Raget.

The 19th edition of the Sails of Saint-Topez ended this Sunday, October 8, 2017 under a radiant sun. A successful edition, which once again managed to combine celebration and sailing. Nearly 4,000 skippers, captains, sailors and owners came to the Var port to race from the bottom of the Gulf to Cavalaire or Les Issambres.

This edition of the international yachting festival was a real success, marked by more than summery weather. Races could be validated every day, during a whole week, for all the Modern, Wally or Classic series. And everyone left delighted, to have been able to joust at sea and celebrate in the evening.

Each of the 19 groups in contention thus consecrates its champion at the end of a great week of competition in almost all types of wind. Mariska, a 1908 Fife design, won the Rolex Trophy in 1908 with three victories. After victories in Palma and Monaco, Christian Niels' splendid yacht closed its season with a grand slam.

The final results in each of the many groups of classic yachts also show the victories of the "stars" so beloved of Les Voiles, Moonbeam III in the Great Tradition, Spartan and Linnet (Auric time), Rowdy, Cholita and Cippino II at the elegant Marconi period, or Maria Giovana II in the Guest Class..

Nor can we forget the victory of Franck Cammas, in the big IRCA category, who was taking part in Les Voiles for the first time. He had chosen a mount well known to himself and some of his boys in the Team France, Babsy a VOR 70 sistership of sound Groupama IV winner of the Volvo Ocean Race in 2012.
