Here's a summary of the regattas and ocean races from October 5 to 11, 2024. On the program are up-and-coming skippers, the Ocean Fifty final, a dismasting for Edmond de Rothschild and a remasting for Romain Attanasio's IMOCA, as well as numerous winners on the Voiles de Saint-Tropez.

Short list of Macif 2025 skippers unveiled

After Loïs Berrehar, who will join the Filière d'Excellence Skipper Macif alongside Charlotte Yven. We'll have to wait until the end of the month to find out who the lucky winner will be. From the 20 applications received, the jury has selected 5 skippers: Hugo Dhallenne, Paul Morvan, Arno Biston, Arthur Meurisse and Tom Goron. They are expected in Port-La-Forêt from October 27 to 31, 2024, for a week of intensive tests at the Pôle Finistère Course au Large. The program includes individual interviews, physical, weather and strategy tests, and single-handed sailing. The week will close with a presentation of the sailors' sporting projects .

Heading for the Ocean Fifty Grand Final in Sainte-Maxime

October 16-20, 2024 sees the grand finale of the Ocean Fifty. With three wins out of four in the Acts already raced, Sébastien Rogues on Primonial has nothing to worry about in terms of final victory. The podium is still within reach for Conq crew, including Koesio, second in the provisional rankings.

The IMOCA Fortinet - Best Western has found its mast

Less than a month after her dismasting during the Défi Azimut, the IMOCA Fortinet - Best Western is once again fitted with a mast . The team succeeded thanks to the support of its title partners Fortinet and Best Western, its partners Club and Sixième Océan, as well as new members joining skipper Romain Attanasio's project: Demetz, A2M Conseil, Hidrostal France, Buenaventura Yachting, Activa Conseil, Pigment and Bearing Point.

The Route du Rhum 2026 renews its partnerships

Brittany Ferries reaffirms its official partnership with the Route du Rhum - Destination Guadeloupe 2026 for the 4th consecutive year, as does OC Sport Pen Duick.

Maxi Edmond de Rothschild dismasted

Shortly after midday on October 8, as the Maxi Edmond de Rothschild was sailing upwind under J3 and full mainsail towards the Strait of Gibraltar, some 30 miles southwest of Almeria, Charles Caudrelier alerted his shore crew to serious damage. The trimaran dismasted, losing just over 17 m of mast. The men reached Motril on the Spanish coast, but this incident puts an end to Gitana's Jules Verne Trophy attempt, leaving the field clear for Sodebo and SVR Lazatigues, who had also planned the record this winter.

End of partnership for Damien Seguin and Apicil

With less than a month to go before the Vendée Globe 2024, the IMOCA class is full of announcements... While for some, it's good news, such as the construction of new boats, for others, it's the end of a collaboration. After Maxime Sorel, Damien Seguin and the Apicil Group have decided to announce the end of their 8-year partnership. The APICIL Group will continue its commitment to disabled sport with its "Team APICIL", but is now concentrating on the start of this second Vendée Globe.

Discover the winners of the Citroen PWA Windsurf World Cup

The tricolors did well in Sylt, Germany, where the last stage of the unified PWA/IWT Freestyle circuit took place from September 27 to October 6, and the penultimate stage of the Wave and Slalom Foil seasons. In Freestyle, Adrien Bosson was crowned World Vice-Champion. Justine Lemeteyer confirmed her great form by winning the Slalom Foil in Sylt ahead of her compatriot Marion Mortefon. In the men's race, Pierre Mortefon finished 2nd e in Slalom Foil. In the Wave class, Antoine Martin just missed out on the podium with a fine 4th place e place.

Numerous winners at Voiles de Saint-Tropez 2024

Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez came to a close on Saturday, October 5, 2024. 250 boats - Maxis, Moderns and Traditions - gathered for the final event of the season. At Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez, competition was tight in all categories. In IRC B (North Sails Trophy), the TP 52 Nanoq of King Frederik of Denmark, while the Shotgunn wins IRC C (BMW Trophy). In IRC D (Suzuki Marine Trophy), there were no surprises as Expresso by Gael Claeys wins again after a victory in 2023. This JPK1010 is the only boat in its class to have won all the races run. Finally, in the IRC E class (Trophée Marines de Cogolin), the wind shifted at the last moment, upsetting the crews. As a result, yesterday's leader Flower Power 2 ended up leaving the overall lead to Pride swan 44 from the Graves family.

Traditions, the 10 m JI Marga helmed by Torben Graël, won the Rolex Trophy, and Belle Aventure triumphs at Grands Traditions. Crusader sir Richard Matthews wins the 12 m JI. In the Big category, consistency goes to Tuiga . In the Marconi category, whether Epoque (pre-1950) or Classic, the suspense was total as the top two finishers tied on points. Eugenia V wins in the Classics category, Stormy Weather doing the same in Epoque B. In Epoque Marconi A, it's a textbook case: Blitzen is tied on points with Carron II . D n this case, the result of the last round is decisive for the last day of racing, Blitzen was ahead. For the sake of completeness, it should also be noted that in IOR , Il Moro di Venezia wins . Ditto for Flica 2 in 12 m JI Vintage and for Dainty at lnvités .

Maxis side, Jolt wins the Maxis A (Trophée Byblos), and Lyra wins in Maxis B (Trophée La Mer). In Maxis C (Barons de Rothschild Trophy), Wallyño wins the day's only banana, but leaves the overall lead by a single point to Yoru . An edition marked by spectacular racing and a high level of competition. Finally, the British Six Jaguar newcomer Swan 65 wins the Maxi D (Brig Trophy).

Ineos Britannia wins Louis Vuitton Cup

Ineos Britannia qualified for the Louis Vuitton Cup against the favorite Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli. The British team emerged victorious from the duel, scoring 7 to 4 and will now face the Defender Emirates Team New Zealand, starting on October 12, 2024. It had been over 60 years since a British competitor had competed for the America's Cup trophy.
