Gaston Morvan, French Elite Ocean Racing Champion 2024
Once again this year, the Championnat de France Elite de Course au Large, organized by the Fédération Française de Voile and the Figaro Beneteau Class, saw 68 sailors battle it out on the water throughout the 5 events in the Championship: the Solo Guy Cotten, the Solo Maître Coq, the Trophée BPGO, the Le Havre Allmer Cup and the Solitaire du Figaro Paprec. Gaston Morvan, skipper of Région Bretagne âeuros CMB Performance, distinguished himself this year by his tenacity, consistency and seamanship, succeeding Corentin Horeau, Winner 2023. This trophy will be presented to him next Friday at the official prize-giving ceremony for the French Elite Ocean Racing Championship 2024. Loïs Berrehar, skipper of Macif 2022, and Basile Bourgnon, skipper of Edenred, will complete the podium.

Start of Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez
Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez kicks off on September 28, marking the 25th anniversary of the event. 250 yachts are divided into three fleets - Maxis, Moderns and Classics - and some 3,000 crew have taken up residence in the Var port. The first Classic boats are due to start racing on Sunday afternoon, with the Coupe d'Automne du Yacht Club de France on the Cannes - Saint-Tropez course. On Monday, the Modern boats will start in front of the Portalet tower at 11 a.m., while the Maxis will compete in the Pampelonne area at 12 p.m. On Tuesday, unlike last year, the Moderns will be the first to set off from the Portalet tower at 11 a.m., while the fleet of Traditional yachts will be asked to move to a "waiting zone" at the far end of the gulf. Depending on weather conditions, the Classics will then start at the same point at 12 noon.
La Med Max l'Occitanie - Saïda Resorts
Sailor Kito de Pavant has come up with a new double-handed race across the western Mediterranean, from Le Grau du Roi to Saïda in Morocco. The race christened the Med Max l'Occitanie - Saïda Resorts is dedicated to the Class40s - 17 in number - which will cover a 1,000-mile course, and the Ocean Fifties - 9 in number - for a 1,500-mile course.

Launch of the Swiss Offshore Team
Alan Roura, Elodie Mettraux and Simon Koster launch the Swiss Offshore Team . This Swiss national offshore sailing team will train youngsters and take part in the biggest single-handed, double-handed and crewed races on the IMOCA calendar.
Departure from Finistère Atlantique
The start of the second edition of the Finistère Atlantique will be given on Saturday September 28 at 1 "h from Concarneau. The five Ultims will reach Antibes on a 1760-mile course in this last race of the season. The level of competition is likely to be tight, as we saw in the 24h Ultm, won in Lorient by the crew of the Maxi Edmond de Rothschild. The first, in July 2022, was narrowly won by the same Maxi Edmond de Rothschild ahead of the Maxi Banque Populaire XI.
