Bayliner tackles the wakesurf market with the Heyday WT1-SC

The Heyday WT1 Side Console

At the end of 2016, the Brunswick group acquired the wakesurf Heyday boat brand, which has since been integrated into Bayliner. The family boat brand now wishes to address a new target audience of boaters and water sports enthusiasts by offering boats specific to their practice. Discovery of the WT1-Side Console, new for 2017/2018, presented at the Yachting Festival next September. The hull remains the same as the WT1, but the layout of the deck layout has been revised with the console offset to starboard.

The WT-1 SC, a boat dedicated to wakesurfing

Heyday builds wakesurf and wakeboard boats with a sporty and modern design at a price that is affordable to the younger generations. The WT1 (previously built and Mexico and now to be built in Poland) was displayed at a price of ?55,000. These boats are equipped with ballasts - driven by the pilot from the helm - to create a wave on either side. The rider only has to use the generated wave to "surf" without being attached to the boat via a wakeboard mast.

The WT-1 SC with its length of 19'6" feet and width of 8 feet can accommodate 9 people on board. Its size less than 20 feet makes it easily transportable, it is also available in a complete package with trailer and motor. Its specially designed V-shaped hull for water sports with a 117° transom angle creates a high wave shape without the use of flaps. The two ballasts (one on each side of the boat) can hold up to 544 litres of water.

The "BailingStrakes" system developed by Heyday improves the hull's sliding on the water with less resistance. The very deep aft freeboard also displaces more water to create optimal wake waves.

The WT1-SC is equipped with a 350 hp V8 5.7L Challenger Crusader inboard engine, sufficient to tow riders, even with a full crew and full ballasts.

A side console version for more space on board

The WT-1 was already available from the American shipyard, but in a centre console version. It will now be offered in a "side console" version with the remote helm station on starboard to improve habitability, like its big brother, the WT-2. This more open layout allows a better cohesion between the riders on board. Seat layout options have also been improved. In the cockpit, the seats of the seats have been curved to provide equivalent comfort whether you look at the rider from the rear or from the cruising position from the front. To maximize the mobility of the chairs, the backs are also removable (especially at the front).

On board, and especially under the cockpit seats, there are many storage spaces to store the boards for example. The steering station brings together all the controls, including switches for ballasts, turbines, underwater lights and docking lights.

The cockpit has space to install an Android tablet. With the installation of the Heyday application, the pilot will benefit from an LCD screen to process engine data (fuel consumption, speed, GPS, oil pressure or engine temperature, etc.) wirelessly. It is also possible to associate the tablet with the Bluetooth sound bar to enjoy the music, access the images of a Go pro..

SeaDek flooring provides an elegant finish to the boat and protects riders from heat and dries quickly.

The price of this new model will be announced at the Cannes Yachting Festival . In this article, we will see how to roll up long ends. In this example the technique is described for a right-handed person.
