Tringa: an amphibious boat for road and sea

Tringa is a roadable amphibious pleasure boat, which can travel both on the road and in the water. Thanks to its retractable wheels, it can quickly go from the road to the sea to enjoy a moment on the water with ease.

Tringa is an amphibious road and all-terrain pleasure boat of 6.42 m (overall length) imagined by Daniel Guirec and designed by the architect Pierre Delion. Thanks to its three wheels installed under its hull, the Tringa is able to drive on the road at a maximum speed of 16 km/h, in an autonomous way, without being towed or without a trailer. The designer has just obtained the authorization of the government so that his boat can circulate on the road. It will be necessary of course to be in possession of its license B.

This new type of boat allows the yachtsman to access the water directly and quickly, without worrying about having a place in the harbor, provided that he lives only a few kilometers from the sea. "For example, if your backyard is 2 kilometers from a water access, TRINGA allows you to navigate in 8 minutes from your door." reads the Tringaboat website. For a longer distance, the boat can be transported on a conventional trailer, without the use of a winch.

It is equipped with a 4-stroke gasoline engine (27 HP) dedicated to land propulsion, located under the console, in the hull, and driving a hydraulic pump that distributes hydraulic oil under pressure to the hydraulic motors located in the wheels. Its 102 L gasoline tank is common to navigation and road.

Tringa goes out and in the water automatically in less than a minute, just by pressing a button, without leaving the helm chair. At sea, it will look like a normal boat since the wheels automatically enter the hull and it remains perfectly closed and watertight.

One version, four options

The Tringa has a self-draining polyester sandwich deck and a planing aluminum marine hull, and is equipped with a center console with seating for two. In the standard version, there is also a seat on the front of the console, 3 seats in the bow locker, in the front cockpit and 2 seats in the back. High freeboards (65 cm at the rear and 69 cm at the front) make it safe to move around the boat.

The Tringa is equipped with a 150 HP outboard engine (max power 175 HP).

Other versions are offered with several à la carte options:

  • A picnic version with a table in the front cockpit and cushions and seat backs, as well as a cooler.
  • A sunbathing version with bimini and sunbathing in the front cockpit
  • A fishing version with rod holders, aluminum cover, removable rack, livewell..
