High-risk jet ski rescue for surfer Pedro Scooby

In the middle of the surfing session on the spot of Praia do Norte, in Nazaré, Portugal, surfer Pedro"Scooby" Vianna was rescued by his colleague Lucas Chumbo, in waves of nearly 10 m. A rescue that didn't really go as planned...

The Brazilian surfer Pedro"Scooby" Vianna probably scared himself well while surfing one of the gigantic waves of the famous spot of Praia do Norte, in Nazaré, Portugal. On February 28, 2017, he surfs a big wave and at the end of his ride, falls into the water covered with foam. If on the video, we see a wave about 10 m high, it should be known that because of a storm a few days before, the waves had reached 24 m high!

His Brazilian teammate and compatriot, Lucas Chumbo, who was watching over the professional surfer, came to his rescue. As he brings Pedro Vianna back to the beach, he badly negotiates a turn, which then leads to the fall of the two men.

A third surfer - Rafael Teixera - will have to intervene to pick up the two men one by one and bring them back to the beach.

The images, filmed by a drone are very impressive, even if surfers were more scared than hurt. They are also in the running for the Billabong Ride of the Year category of the 2017 WSL Big Wave Awards.
