Egoist: classic lines for a very modern sailboat

Egoist, sloop concept by Philippe Briand

The designer Philippe Briand reveals a new concept of a 100-foot (30 m) sailboat, a carbon sloop called "Egoist". The basic idea is to create a sailboat that is simple to use with a design that is out of the ordinary. A classic look, but with touches of modernity!

" At a time when many boats are designed to satisfy all varieties of sailing programs - from charter to private craft - artistic direction can be compromised to the extent that the originality of the design is diluted. The result: the very essence of the boat's construction is at risk or in danger of being lost. Egoist is the antidote to this! It has been designed solely to satisfy the needs and pleasures of the owner." says the designer.

Egoist offers an old design with a transom arch and inverted transom, but modernised, as with the transparent roof for example. "Egoist embodies a new perspective in the classic East Coast yacht, but can also be used for racing, with an expert, if small, crew." explains Philippe Briand.

Inside, the yacht has a very spacious interior saloon with a beautiful owner's cabin and comfortable accommodation for 2 crew members. This very elegant sloop with a flush deck is suitable for a day trip as well as for a superyacht-like sailing cruise, without the need for many crew members indicates the studio.

Egoist has been designed to be a fast and responsive boat with timeless classic sailboat lines but with a contemporary touch. For easy manoeuvring and short-handed sailing, Egoist has a boom furler or a self-tacking jib.
