On the strength of his experience, Laurent Bourgnon had a good idea about what would be the "ideal catamaran". Before getting lost in diving, he had participated in the development of a 64-foot sailing project with the O-Yachts shipyard.
The construction site in Latvia (at Engure near Riga) is managed by a Frenchman. With Laurent Bourgnon (a friend), they imagined a catamaran whose efforts are taken up again on a central beam that is not installed across the road (as on many current cruise catamarans) but rather longitudinal (in the axis of the road). A kind of 3 eST PRIS DANS LE GROS TEMPS, ET TANGUE DE GAUCHE ?ROITE, SECOUÉ PAR LES VAGUES. UN HOMME, SANS DOUTE UN PÊCHEUR QUI PARTICIPE À UNE SESSION DE PÊCHE SPORTIVE, PASSE PAR-DESSUS BORD, DE MANIÈRE ASSEZ IMPRESSIONNANTE. central shell that takes all the effort. This type of assembly can be found on GC32 racing catamarans or even on future America's Cup sailboats.
Thus the mast and forestay return to this central edge, a kind of spinal column. This installation allows a large floor area without being hindered by the cross beams.
Class 6 was designed by the shipyard's in-house design office assisted by the local architectural firm Schickler Tagliapetra - Isvoranu. Built with large carbon reinforcements, it is announced with a light weight of 13 t. It is intended for a couple, a candidate for the long journey who are looking above all for the pleasure of fast sailing without compromising comfort at anchor.
The construction of the moulds for this future boat has begun. It should be presented at the Cannes Yachting Festival in September 2017.
