Erwan Le Roux, the last winner of the Transat Jacques Vabre in the Multi50 class in 2013, with Yann Eliès, is back this year with Giancarlo Pedote, winner of numerous races and several times French Single-handed Offshore Racing Champion. These two regular winners are formidable competitors for the other participants in the Multi50 class.

The skippers

Nothing predestined Erwan Le Roux He had no intention of pursuing a career in sailing, quite the contrary in fact, since he was destined for a career as a boilermaker, like his father. The year of his baccalaureate, when he was 18 years old, he discovered sailing thanks to his mechanics teacher, in Vannes. The latter introduced him to sailing aboard a Samouraï, a small 7.20 m monohull whose construction stopped in 1980. The objective was to participate in the "One School, One Boat" campaign and Erwan began regular training sessions between the Island of Arz and the Glénan School.

When he had to do his military service, he became a conscientious objector at the École des Glénans for 24 months. While there, he passed a qualification contract and then a state certificate and took part in his first big regattas and discovered single-handed sailing.

But what really marked a turning point in his career was his participation in the Solo Le Télégramme, which proved his potential and made him want to continue.

He then sailed on many different boats and regattas: Mini 6.50, Figaro Bénéteau 2, Class40, Mumm 30 where he obtained great victories: 3rd in the Transat Jacques Vabres on "Chocolat Monbana" (double-handed) in Class40 in 2007, French Champion in crew on "courrier Dunkerque" in Mumm 30 in 2008 and 2009, Winner of the Tour de France under sail on "courrier Dunkerque" in Mumm 30, in 2008 and 2009, Winner of the Challenge Mini (crewed) in Mini 6.50 in 2008âeuros¦

He has sailed with the greatest skippers: Marc Guillemot, Loïck Peyron, Daniel Souben, Frank-Yves Escoffier...

In 2009, he discovered the Multi50 class by participating in the Transat Jacques Vabre as co-skipper on Pancakes Whaou 3! He then decided to embark on the adventure aboard FenêtréA Prysmianl in 2010, on which he scored some great victories: 2nd in the Tour de Belle-Ile, Winner of the Grand Prix Guyader and 2nd in the Armen Race in 2012; 1st in the Transat Jacques Vabre in a multi 50, 2nd in the Route des Princes, 1st in the Trophée Prince de Bretagne in Saint Quay and 2nd in the Tour de France à la Voile in 2013. In 2014, he won the Route du Rhum and set the record.

Giancarlo Pedote is a skipper of Italian origin, living in Lorient. He started sailing at the age of 14 on a windsurfer and then decided to move on to Hobie 16s and small cruisers.

At the age of 18 he became an instructor of windsurfing, catamarans and dinghies. Between 2000 and 2003, he is a trainer for the professional training courses for skipper organized by "Regione Toscana" and the "European Social Fund

For several years, he participated in major offshore and coastal races with a crew. He then realizes that his vocation is solo sailing. He then decided to enter the international Mini 6.50 circuit for a season of racing, with a serial boat and quickly became an undisputed figure of the circuit.

In 2010 and 2011, he did a season in Figaro Bénéteau to expand his skills. He will also use what he learned in the Mini class. From 2012 to 2014, he sails in the prototype circuit of the Mini 6.50 Class, with the boat Prysmian ITA 747 obtains the second place in the Mini Transat, the record for the Marie-Agnés Pèron Trophy and a number of podiums that allow him to obtain the first place in the Mini World Ranking, the title of Champion of France Promotion Offshore Singlehanded Racing and Italian Sailor of the Year (Velista dell'Anno).
