Here's a summary of the regattas and offshore races for the week of November 11 to 17, 2023. On the program, a host of victories, race returns, race starts and the birth of a Foundation.

Ocean Fifty Solidaires en Peloton wins Jacques Vabre race

Thibaut Vauchel-Camus and Quentin Vlamynck crossed the finish line of the Transat Jacques Vabre on Thursday, November 16, 2023 at 01:07 from Paris. After a race time of 11 days, 11 hours, 22 minutes and 27 seconds, and an average speed of 19.73 knots, they won the event in their Ocean Fifty category. The two other Ocean Fifty boats still racing, Réalités and Viabilise Ocean, completed the podium on the same day, in second and third place.

The PWA World Tour slalom event opened on November 11 in Japan on the Yokosuka water. At the end of the spectacular final event, the foil riders put up a great fight.

Bonairian Amado Vrieswijk and young Slovenian Lina Eren won this final stage of the 2023 season, but the world titles went to Italy's Matteo Iachino and Spain's Blanca Alabau. For the 2nd year running, Justine Lemeteyer became World Slalom vice-champion, beating her compatriot and title-holder Marion Mortefon to the final podium.

Opening of the 15th edition of the St.Barth Cata Cup

From November 15 to 19, 2023, 56 crews will take part in the various races of the St-Barth Cata Cup. Between 15 and 20 knots of east-southeast wind are forecast for the whole week. The field is strong, with some of the biggest names in sport catamarans taking part. Who will succeed Tim Mourniac and Pierre-Yves Durand?

AC40 named World Sailing Boat of the Year 2023

The national sailing institution has decided! The AC40, launched at the end of 2022 from the design office of Emirates Team New Zealand and America's Cup support boat for young people and women, is also used as a training boat by all teams taking part in the 37th America's Cup. The World Sailing Awards aim to reward innovative boat designs and concepts, highlighting revolutionary technological developments. They chose the AC40 for its innovative and technologically advanced nature.

The Tour de Belle-Île returns in May 2024

After a 4-year absence, the Tour de Belle-Île returns to La Trinité sur mer from May 3 to 5. Taken over by OC Sport Pend Duick in spring 2023, the race will offer two unchanged courses, one of 42 miles around Belle-Île-en-Mer, and the other of around 37 miles. Registration opens on December 15, 2023. Numerous racing and cruising boats are expected to line up at the start of the Tour de Belle-Île. As a reminder, the Tour de Belle-Île is the largest gathering of boats in a single race, bringing together amateurs and professionals.

The French Sailing Federation creates the Fondation de la Voile

To promote increasingly inclusive sailing, the Fédération Française de Voile creates the Fondation de la Voile . This new foundation will aim to support projects that are positive and respectful of their environments, audiences and stakeholders, to leave a lasting legacy. Two projects will be proposed, the "La Mer est à vous" integration program and the "Course au large 2023 s'align ensemble avec l'accord de Paris et les limites planétaires" commitment

Victory in the Ultim series of the Transat Jacques Vabre for Armel le Cléac'h

At the end of a 9,263-mile course, the Maxi Banque Populaire XI led by Armel le Cléac'h and Sébastien Josse wins the Transat Jacques Vabre in the Ultim category . The two men crossed the finish line in Fort-de-France Bay this Sunday, November 12, 2023 at 23:19 Paris time, or 18:19 local time, followed by SVR Lazartigue with François Gabart and Tom Laperche. The Maxi Edmond de Rothschild completes the podium.

Deserved victories in the Mini Transat

At the end of the second leg of the Mini Transat 2023, the proto winners were the event favorites. Federico Waksman (1019 âeuros Repremar âeuros Shipping Agency Uruguay) and Carlos Manera Pascual (1081 âeuros Xucla), finished first and second in Guadeloupe, and in the same order overall. Federico Waksman, at the helm of the race since November 2, crossed the finish line of stage 2 on Friday November 10 at 18h21'44" (French time). It took him 13 days, 5 hours 1 minute 44 seconds to complete this second stage at an average speed of 8.08 knots. Third place, hotly contested right to the end, went to Julien Letissier (1069 - Frérots Branchet).

speed of 7.35 knots. After a long wait to find out the differences between him and his rivals, the Italian won the race after confirmation by the jury. Bruno Lemunier and Grégoire Hue completed the podium.
