Extending the range of large yachts
The "grande plaisance" extension allows you to drive a pleasure boat with a motor of 4.5 kilowatts (6 horsepower) and a length of 20 meters or more, on lakes, canals and rivers.
Preparing for the exam
Boaters must be at least 18 years old, and must enroll at an approved training center. Unlike the coastal option, it is not possible to take this extension as an independent candidate. Training is practical and lasts a minimum of 9 hours.
Register for the event
To register for the test, you need to obtain an application form from a training center or from the instructors responsible for your boating license. This must include the original inland waterway license, the cerfa n° 14680*01 form, a color passport photo and a ?38 tax stamp for the exam registration fee.
Permit extensions can be obtained from the prefect of the département in which the department responsible for examining the permit application has its headquarters, on presentation of supporting documents.
