The large yacht extension
The large yacht extension allows you to operate a motorized pleasure boat with a power output of 4.5 kilowatts (6 hp) and a length of 20 metres or more on lakes, canals and rivers.
Preparing for the exam
The boater must be at least 18 years old and must register in an approved training centre. Unlike the offshore extension of the coastal option yachting license, it is not possible to pass this extension as a free candidate. The training is practical and lasts at least 9 hours.
Register for the event
To register for the event, a file must be obtained from a training centre or from the competent instructor services for the pleasure licence. This one must contain the original of the licence pleasure option inland waters, the cerfa n° 14680*01, a photo of identity in color and a fiscal stamp of 38 € of inscription fee with the examination.
The extension of the permit is recovered from the prefect of the department in which the instructing service of the permit application at its headquarters, on presentation of supporting documents.
