The Oakley Surf Shop Challenge Europe won by the Basque team, Pukas Surf Shop

The second edition of the Oakley Surf Shop Challenge Europe took place on the weekend of June 7th and 8th on the beaches of Anglet, near Biarritz. The Basque team Pukas Surf Shop was crowned champion after a battle between the best European surf shops.

Last weekend in ideal surfing conditions â?" sunny and light wind â?" Team Pukas won the Oakley Surf Shop Challenge Europe in Anglet, France. On the beach, a crowd of spectators gathered to watch the surfers perform.

A competition that brings together the best European surf shops

The premise of the Oakley Surf Shop Challenge Europe is to have four surfers per team, two pros and two employees. The surfers head out to sea in a sprint and each surfer's best wave is chosen. Romain Cloître, a surfer on the Oakley team, notes the high level of surfing at this event "This year the level of the surfers has really progressed and they put on an incredible show." . And he adds " It's really nice to see teams from all over Europe get so involved and to see the crowd so interested in the competition."

A tight final between qualified teams

Sunday afternoon, it was in waves of one and a half meters high that the Basque team, composed of Eneko Acero, Mario Azurza, Ander Mendiguren and Jamie Aspiroz defeated the local team Waimea. A revenge for the Pukas Surf Shop team that had lost at home, in San Sebastian, in the inaugural edition of 2013. They leave with a trip to California and many prizes from various partners of the event.

The Spanish, represented by the Escuela Cantabra de Surf and Hawaii Surf Shop, the English with Surfing Life and even the French, SB3 Labenne, title holder and eliminated in the semi-finals by a " double whammy eneko Acero's " were formidable competitors and showed a solid level throughout the competition.
