Announced at the Genoa International Boat Show in September 2025, the Bayliner C21i (i as in board) follows on from the C21 (outboard) presented a few months earlier in Düsseldorf. This model replaces the VR5 Cuddy, which has been withdrawn from the catalog. It inherits a new, wider hull (2.54 meters), with a 20° V at the transom, for more stable cruising while maximizing living space.
A unit designed for family versatility

With its 6.39 m overall length, the Bayliner C21i is positioned as an accessible boat for day trips or short coastal cruises. The objective is clear: to appeal to families and groups of friends looking for a versatile boat, capable of alternating between swimming, lounging and coastal sailing. Passenger capacity is limited to 7 people, in line with segment standards.

The aft cockpit benefits from an enlarged central access between two extended bathing platforms, facilitating circulation on board. The foredeck features a raised sundeck with central cushion, complementing the cabin's U-shaped seating. A configuration that favors mixed use, between active navigation and relaxing anchorage.
Smooth flow and reconfigurable cockpit

One of the most striking features of the C21i is its cockpit layout. The shipyard has opted for a fluid flow of traffic from aft to forward, facilitated by the absence of steps or rigid bulkheads. On the port side, the three-position tilting bench seat allows alternating orientation, either forward-facing when sailing, or aft-facing at anchor.

Also of note is the integration of a large storage compartment under the seats and a lockable glove compartment. These storage compartments keep the deck clear, without sacrificing carrying capacity.

Technology integration and on-board equipment

Bayliner equips the C21i with a Simrad GO9 screen for navigation and engine display, linked to Mercury's VesselView Link interface. On-board electronics also include an induction charger for smartphones. At this level of the range, these devices meet the expectations of boaters who want a minimum of connectivity, without superfluous over-equipment.

The C21i can also be fitted with an optional sliding marine toilet, integrated into the small forward cabin. This cabin has two berths, lit by side portholes. It's not a true cruising area, but this configuration makes it possible to envisage a night at anchor as a stopover.

Increased hull, propulsion and range

The C21i is based on a new, wider hull, with a moderate V of 20°. At 2.54 m, the maximum authorized width for road transport remains respected. The engine is a MerCruiser 4.5-liter gasoline block with 200 to 250 hp and Z-drive. This choice of propulsion optimizes the rear deck layout, while guaranteeing lively, responsive cruising, even when fully loaded.

Compared with the VR5 Cuddy, the C21i benefits from a larger fuel tank (170 liters) and a longer hull, offering greater range for coastal programs.

Bayliner shipyard, a range redesigned for Europe

In France, the recommended retail price has yet to be confirmed, but initial estimates for a well-equipped model are in the region of ?90,000 to ?105,000 inc. tax, depending on engine and configuration.
