A specialist in on-board lighting

Ledlenser is a German brand specializing in portable lighting. Headlamp, flashlight, lantern, this manufacturer offers every solution for outdoor activities. We have in hand the latest model of headlamp perfectly suited to boating: the HF8R Core.

Solid and sturdy

From the moment you pick it up, this headlamp makes an impression. Already with its one-piece design and its weight of over 200 g. You get what you pay for. In fact, this headlamp is powered by a high-capacity built-in battery which, alas, is a little heavy. But it's also designed to deliver outstanding performance. In terms of autonomy, this headlamp is claimed to operate for 90 hours (almost 4 days non-stop!), and above all with a powerful beam of light: up to 1600 lumens.

Hands-free adjustable brightness

For our nautical use, we especially appreciate the automatic dimming and focusing mode thanks to Adaptive Light Beam technology. A sensor receives reflected light and adapts light intensity accordingly. This principle works really well. If you're reading a book, the headlamp switches to low power, and if you look up into the night, it switches to full headlight. Power is also manually adjustable via a knob on the underside of the headlamp.

Red light mode

To work at the card table and avoid glare, this headlamp can also switch on a red LED. Simply press and hold the on/off switch for 2 seconds. Note that the headlamp remembers the last mode used and re-lights directly in this mode. So if you switch the lamp off with the red light, it will then switch back on in this mode. This can be handy for avoiding glare and waiting for your vision to readapt to the dark.

Monobloc with no visible wires

But this headlamp is also very solid, with an aluminum body. Its one-piece design seems to stand up to anything. This model is waterproof and resistant to prolonged immersion (IP68). Its recharging cord is fitted with a magnetic plug, eliminating the problem of water getting into the plug. The other end of the cable connects to a USB C socket. A battery and charging status indicator (4 small LEDs) is visible on the underside of the lamp.

A Bluetooth-linked app

The icing on the cake - but what's the point? - you can connect your headlamp to your phone via Bluetooth using a dedicated application. From here, you can control your headlamp, adjust its power and switch it off.
