Mustang's Atlas 190 DLX vest named one of Time magazine's best inventions of 2024

Every year, the famous American magazine compiles a list of the best inventions of the year. For once, a lifejacket was included in the famous listing.

Mustang Survival, a benchmark in Anglo-Saxon safety

Founded in 1967, Mustang Survival has built up a wealth of experience in the development of lifejackets. A favorite with Anglo-Saxon sailors, the company has designed and manufactured lifejackets for NASA, Navy Seals, Coast Guards, police forces, the army, ocean racers and professional athletes, maintaining a high level of quality combined with constant innovation in new products.

Mustang Survival Atlas 190 DLX Pro Sensor

The winner, chosen by our Time colleagues, boasts a host of technical features compatible with demanding users. Available in black and red, it is equipped with new bladder technology, a highly enveloping protective hood, and an integrated flashlight.

A Pro Sensor trigger, favored by professionals who prefer it to the Hammar, inflates a bladder with a buoyancy rating of 190 N.

A vest is useless if it's not worn

Mustang Survival has rethought the overall design of its new vest so that users can actually wear the vest. The Atlas 190 DLX Pro is lightweight, body-fitting and looser around the neck, making it easy to wear over a jacket. As Atlas developer Nigel Parkes puts it: " If it's comfortable, it will be worn. If worn, it can save your life. And if someone falls overboard, the Atlas releases a large lung to support the head, keeping the castaway in a good position to float until help arrives."
