The Cannes Yachting Festival has opted for online ticketing, and access to the show is only possible via this online purchase. There are no longer any counters at the entrance offering this service. At the time of opening of this ticketing service, the daily ticket price may come as a surprise.
Indeed, the visitor price for one day is announced at ?39. A price far higher than other boat shows. By way of comparison, the Boot in Dusseldorf, which offers far more exhibitors and halls to visit, costs ?19... Is September sunshine on the Croisette worth twice the January chill in Germany?
Especially as this increase, which began last year, shows no signs of stopping: ?19 in 2022, ?31 in 2023, ?39 in 2024... That's an increase of 25% between 2023 and 2024. The organizers may announce a general price rise, but it's certainly not 25%.
Unless visitors aren't really taken into account in this equation, and we're counting on them to fill a few coffers? After that, it's hard to say that we're working to democratize pleasure boating, and that we want to help the market grow. And yet it's sorely needed at a time when boats are struggling to sell, and distributors and dealers are scrambling to keep their few buyers.
