Koesio, the first Ocean Fifty with steering wheel

Erwan Le Roux's Ocean Fifty, Koesio, underwent several major modifications this winter. Aerodynamic tarpaulins have been fitted, a new mast installed and a few superfluous kilos removed. But the main novelty is the installation of a new autopilot combined with an augmented electronic steering wheel system. This device was developed by MerConcept teams in collaboration with Mobius France and Madintec for the SVR-Lazartigue trimaran. Tested on Act 1 of the Ocean Fifty Series, it offers extraordinary steering subtleties. The navigator has more precise indications of the boat's behavior, whether it's hard or soft, thanks in particular to the very short latency between the movement of the steering wheel and the actual rudder movement time, made possible by a new-generation autopilot actuator, the Mobius L300-700.
