Charleston Water Taxi in South Carolina Puts Yamaha Outboards to the Test

The Charleston Water Taxi uses its outboard motors extensively

Owners of the Charleston Water Taxi (SC) put Yamaha engines to the ultimate test, logging over 300 hours in a single month.

With its Blue Life series, Yamaha Marine puts the spotlight on professional users of Yamaha engines. This time, it's the turn of Charleston Water Taxi.

A Yamaha F150 with 15,515 hours

Since the company was founded in 2005, Charleston Water Taxi co-owners Chip Deaton and Scott Connelly have placed their trust in Yamaha outboard engines. This loyalty is unwavering, as the brand is present on all four of the company's boats, including a 2008 F 150 on a Carolina Skiff 27, which has clocked up 15,515 hours of trouble-free operation. Scott Connelly says: "We thought about replacing it, but it's still working very well, and we're curious to see how long it lasts."

The Charleston Water Taxi represents a very practical transportation in this marshy region for many people who live on the banks of the Ashley and Cooper Rivers in South Carolina. On average, Charleston Water Taxi's fleet of four boats completes around 300 hours per month, a figure that represents more than twice the use of a regular boater for a full season.
