Among the new products on show at Boot Düsseldorf 2024, here's one that's so fresh it hasn't even sailed yet! Green Power is a new brand of motor catamaran arriving on the market. This Dutch shipyard builds its hulls in Turkey before finishing them on its territory.
A 10 m foiling catamaran
The brand's first model is the Green Power 33, a 10-m catamaran powered by 2 x 80 kW motors. These motors are connected to the propellers by shaft lines located just in front of the rudders. To aid navigation, a curved foil connects the 2 hulls at the forward third of the hull. The purpose of this foil is to partially support the boat, thus increasing its speed and power consumption.
The 3D views of the boat sell better than the prototype discovered in the show aisles. In fact, the model seen here has neither a T-top nor a windshield, revealing only an angular hull with high, vertical sides. This somewhat rigid vision will undoubtedly be attenuated once the boat is on the water.
24 knots max
Today, the shipyard is announcing a maximum speed of 24 knots, but the boat, fresh from the workshops, is not yet finished. For autonomy, 3 battery capacities will be available: 132, 176 or 220 kWh. The distance covered at 24 knots increases from 23 to 39 miles, depending on the battery pack. With a fast charger, a full charge is expected in 10 hours.
A very wide dayboat
In terms of layout, this 3 m wide dayboat offers plenty of deck space. Forward of the cockpit, a large sunbathing area on the foredeck is accessible via a starboard gangway. The cockpit, with its two forward-facing seats, will be protected by a windscreen and optional T-top. Behind it, an outdoor galley is also to be offered. Finally, the rear sunbathing area is preceded by a 4-seat saloon.
A huge cargo hold
Access to the bathing platform is via one of the two gangways on either side of the boat, under which the battery compartments are hidden and easily accessible for installation or replacement. The highlight of the visit is the huge aft hold, which can accommodate a 4.50 m-long inflated paddle!
A cabin to come
This catamaran should be equipped with a cabin with 2 berths and a toilet. Access to this interior is via the door on the port side of the cockpit. On the prototype we were able to visit, the space was still entirely free of furniture.
With a base price of ?295,000 excluding VAT, we're waiting to see the finished version to judge the quality of construction, and above all to have the opportunity to validate the efficiency of this propulsion system at sea, and compare measurements with the advertised figures.
