Editorial / 2024: For sailors, the light will come from the open sea

In January, it's customary to look ahead to the New Year and make wishes. When the world isn't laughing, we're still trying to bring the good weather in from the open sea, with a program full of novelties for French yachtsmen.

Sailing away from worries in 2024

As 2024 gets underway in a rather anxious global context, the exercise of wishing is once again a delicate one. While we wish you, our faithful readers, good health nourished by the iodized air, wind and sun of the seaside, we hope above all that you will enjoy some fine sailing, escaping the torments of the world and everyday life, on boats as diverse as they are beautiful and entertaining.

A program full of novelties in 2024

For our part, we'll be on deck to track down the boats that will take you on long tacks and extensive planning in the bay or offshore, and to tell you stories about the sea and sailors that will open a door to the sea in your daily life.

And the 2024 program is not lacking in originality, with many new events. Starting on January 7 the first solo trimaran race around the world . While the Olympic sailors prepare their weapons over the winter, they will meet up in Marseilles in the summer to compete in the first Olympic sailing events on the Phocaean racecourse. From August to October, the America's Cup will be held in Barcelona for the first time on an AC75, with the return of a French team.

For those who don't like competition, they can also discover or rediscover traditional boats at La Rochelle to host its first event in June or Brest 2024, which marks the event's return to the port of Finistère. As for trade show enthusiasts, they should discover the 1st edition of Nautic en Seine, the new partially afloat version of the Paris boat show.

As you can see, in 2024, the light will come from the open sea, both north and south, and we'll be blowing with the wind to bring it to you!
