No chance of medals, but the will to finish on a high note
Due to the lack of wind in the spectator zone, the finals for both the men's and women's single-handed dinghies have been postponed. They are now scheduled for tomorrow, in addition to the finals already scheduled for the double-handed dinghies (470) and double-handed catamarans (Nacra 17). Four finals will be held, with three French teams taking part: Louise Cervera, 8th in the women's single-handed dinghy (ILCA 6), Camille Lecointre and Jérémie Mion, 7th in the mixed double-handed dinghy (470), and Tim Mourniac and Lou Berthomieu, 6th in the mixed double-handed catamaran (Nacra 17). Although none of these competitors looks likely to make it onto the podium, they will be determined to bring their Olympic Games to a close and represent France with commitment and passion.
As Tim Mourniac confirms:
"We felt we were on the pace of the world's best. The last race was the race of all dangers. It was a huge opportunity for us, who were a little behind. Unfortunately, we missed out. We're disappointed tonight, but still very proud of our week. We're going to remobilize and use all our remaining energy to go for 5th place. We have what it takes to be out in front. We knew it would be a hard-fought race right to the end, even if we were perhaps too timid in the last race. It'll be a great result for us, even if it won't make much difference, because we've come to the Olympics to win a medal. "

Camille Lecointre in the 470, makes no secret of her disappointment:
"We're saying goodbye to the medal today. It's a huge disappointment, because that was our objective. We finished with a difficult race, but it was mainly the start of the competition that penalized us. The first day is never easy, you have to find the right rhythm between the apprehension"
In the kite, Lauriane Nolot on the ball, Axel Mazella stays in the game

Wednesday August 7 will be a busy day for the sailing events at this 33rd edition of the Olympic Games. Four finals are scheduled for the day, while the men's and women's kitefoils continue their qualification phase. Although weather conditions are still expected to be light tomorrow, it is hoped that the kitefoils will be able to accumulate races to advance their table. Tonight, with just one race to go, Lauriane Nolot is in first place in the provisional overall standings, level on points with the Briton and five points ahead of the American. In the men's category, the table is gradually being completed: Axel Mazella is 5th, just 10 points from the gold medal. The Slovenian remains in the lead tonight, followed by the Singaporean.
