Yot 36, the dayboat catamaran from the new Catana Group brand

The Catana Group's Yot 36 has entered a new market. The idea is to offer motorboats as platforms for access to the sea, for day trips. For this, the catamaran is perfectly suited. They offer ample space for the crew and excellent stability at anchor. With its new Yot brand, the Catana Group aims to capture this market.

No supersonic speeds, but nice averages

Powered by 2 x 300 hp, the Yot 36, with an overall length of 10.92 m, sails at 25 knots, with a top speed of 35 knots. The slender hulls pass well through the sea, and the air current between the hulls under the platform ensures a certain amount of lift. The shipyard has opted for an outboard for this first presentation, but an inboard version is also being studied. With its 1150 liters of fuel, this catamaran has the autonomy for a Continent-Corsica crossing, for example. This new brand is targeting the Mediterranean market.

Made in Portugal

To reduce weight and stiffen the boat, the Yot 36 uses carbon bulkheads. Currently manufactured at Composite Solutions in Vagos, Portugal, the Catana Group is currently building a factory for this launch of its range, which should soon be completed by a 41 and a 46.

An asymmetrical layout

Designed by J&J Design, the architect opted for an asymmetrical boat. The starboard gangway is used to move forward. Wide and deep, it guarantees safe movement. On the port side, the passavant is much narrower, at deck level and therefore unprotected. It will only be used when approaching the quay, or to install fenders, for example. At the bow, a small saloon will be appreciated both at sea and at anchor.

The asymmetry of the layout is used to create cabin volume. The port hull has a large cabin with headroom and a large double bed. In contrast, the starboard hull has only a single berth. Inside the hulls, aft of the companionways, there are two identical toilet compartments on each side.

A modular deck layout

On deck, the Yot 36 offers 4 places facing the road, 2 on each side. This is ideal for a large crew, as the boat is approved in category B for up to 10 people. A rigid T-top covers the cockpit and companionways. Aft of the cockpit is a well-equipped galley. Two squares on each side, with seats and tables, can be transformed at will into sunbathing areas, or into seats looking forward or aft, by tilting the backrests.

At anchor, the already large cockpit can be extended thanks to the two tilting bulwarks. When unfolded, the boat's width increases from 3.99 m to 5.40 m. The shipyard has chosen to offer a deliberately narrow boat, so as not to penalize it for finding a berth.
