Northman 1050, a fast trawler capable of long-distance sailing

After the Northman 1200, the Polish shipyard launches the Northman 1050. While the silhouettes of these boats may resemble each other, the latest addition hides a major new feature: a semi-planing hull, capable of high average speeds. Whereas the 1200 is classed as a displacement trawler, the 1050 is capable of high displacement.

A new hull and more powerful engines

To achieve this, Northman equips its 1050 with a Yanmar single-engine 250 or 320 hp engine. With the highest power rating, the boat reaches 20 knots. Even if the expression is almost an oxymoron, this is a truly fast trawler, competing with the Swift Trawler Bénéteau, for example. This shift to faster boats is in response to market demand. It's hard to sell boats with a maximum speed of 12-15 knots, even if this is their true operating speed... But the shipyard believes in this slower, more comfortable and economical type of sailing, as the Northman 1050 is offered as standard with a Yanmar 110 hp.

Front access to fly

The Northman 1050 is 9.80 m long. It comes standard with a flybridge, on which a second helm station can be fitted as an option. A large sundeck completes the fly.

This area is accessed from the foredeck, by climbing onto the deckhouse. This original solution avoids the usual vertical cockpit ladder, which takes up space in this comfort zone. Here, you climb progressively onto the deck and deckhouse, the ladder having just 3 perfectly secure steps.

An asymmetrical plan

Circulation on this boat is asymmetrical. You reach the bow using the starboard gangway. It's wide, deep and secured by a high bulwark. On the port side, the gangway is narrow and will only be used to attach fenders.

Back in the cockpit, we discover a beautiful space, closed off at the rear by a bench seat. This is cleverly mounted on rails, allowing it to move back over the platform. The cockpit space is thus enlarged, while access to the water remains possible on the starboard side of the platform. Above all, the opening bulwark on the starboard side further enlarges the living area.

The square on one level

This cockpit is directly linked to the saloon on the same level. As a result, the door opens wide, providing a single exterior interior space. The tables can be arranged to form a single dining area.

Opposite, the kitchen is located behind the helm station. It has a side door for quick access to the outside.

Beautiful interior finishes

Below, the Northman 1050 offers 4 berths. A large owner's cabin forward, very bright thanks to the large hull portholes, and a guest cabin with a double bed that slides under the saloon, and even an extra bed for a child if required. A shower area separate from the toilet completes the beautifully finished layout.
