Contest 63 CS, a 63-foot sailboat with 3 double cabins forward

Several choices of layout, rig and sail plan

Dutch shipyard Contest Yachts is hard at work! In the spring of 2024, he will present the Contest 63 CS the 9th model in the range, which takes its place between the 59 CS and the 67 CS . This ocean cruiser has an overall length of 19.29 m, a beam of 5.50 m and displaces 31,900 kg.

Like previous models, the design was entrusted to Judel/Vrolijk & co. Its slender lines are marked by a rather slim roof, glazed at 180°. Construction is in vacuum infusion. The foredeck features flush deck panels, and the central cockpit is well protected by the polyester structure. The transom unfolds to store a tender garage and becomes a bathing platform with integrated ladder. It offers a wide choice of layouts, rigs and sail plans. Optimized for sailing with family and friends, it nevertheless offers an option for a crew. The shipyard reports that the Contest 63 CS is equally at home in light and heavy weather.

Facilitating short-handed navigation

The cockpit features two helm stations, positioned aft, with a central winch for the mainsheet. An axial passageway leads to the central cockpit, equipped with two bench seats with tables. On the foredeck, the sail locker is also flush. The hydraulic furling system for the headsail is directly integrated into the fixed bowsprit. Sailing systems for smaller crews include several options, such as a carbon or aluminum rig, a furling mast or a furling boom. Both options make reefing easier. In all cases, all maneuvers are performed aft at the helm stations. Finally, for even greater convenience, Code 0 is available with an optional self-tacking jib.

Up to three double cabins forward

The interior is designed by Wetzels Brown Partners, who have a long tradition of superyacht design. The large saloon features a galley on the port side and a lounge area on the same side. The chart table and dining area are on the starboard side. The strength of the Contest 63 lies in its two identical VIP cabins at the bow of the boat. Each has its own private bathroom. The large owner's cabin is located aft, with walk-in wardrobes and a very large bathroom. For families with young children, this cabin can be fitted with additional bunk beds.

Other alternatives are offered by the shipyard, as this is a semi-custom project. The owner's cabin remains aft, but the bow can accommodate a third suite, for a total of four cabins. Other configurations include three double cabins and a large sail locker with workshop, or three double cabins with crew cabin and large sail locker.
