Famous Project: visit in pictures of Alexia Barrier's MOD 70 trimaran
We went to visit the MOD 70 which is used as a training base for the Famous Project crew, whose final objective is to win the Jules Verne Trophy with a 100% female crew.
Conceived following the disappearance of the ORMA class, the MOD 70 is a one-design trimaran, designed by VPLP in 2007. Built in 7 copies out of the 12 planned, this boat is designed for ocean racing, grand prix and to be sailed by a crew of 6 sailors.
We visited the number 5 of the series, which is currently in the hands of Alexia Barrier. She is training there with her crew, before taking possession of Francis Joyon's Ultimtrimaran, in order to try to win the Jules Verne Trophy.
