Fast electric boats developed by Canadians
Canadian manufacturers have been investing in electric motors for several years, with a focus on performance. After the speed record set in August 2022 by the V32 catamaran developed by the Canadian brand Vision Marine Technologies, reaching 175.4 km/h, another record, this time for distance, has been set.
A boat made of carbon fiber in Canada
The Voltari 260 is an 8.53-meter-long electric racer developed by Voltari Marine Electric. Its deep-V hull, with a 24-degree lifting angle, is made entirely of carbon fiber at the company's Ontario headquarters. The powertrain and battery manufacturing are done in Montreal, Quebec.
A maximum speed of 52 knots
This dayboat is equipped with an inboard motor, developed in-house, of 550 kW, which is equivalent to 700 horsepower. With its 142 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, the Voltari 260 can reach a speed of 52 knots and has a torque of 1350 Nm.

A possible distance record
At the boat's launch at the 2023 Miami Boat Show, the manufacturer claims to have broken the record for distance traveled by an electric boat on a single charge overseas. Starting from Key Largo, Florida, it reached Bimini in the Bahamas in 20 hours at an average speed of 4 knots, a distance of 91 miles. Although this figure is difficult to verify, as everyone prides themselves on breaking records of all kinds, it is worth noting, at least for the autonomy offered.
A family arrangement
Voltari Marine has been active in the electric propulsion sector since 2009. After having tried its hand at electric ski boats and then hybrid boats, it launched the Voltari 260 in 2022. Designed to go fast, as evidenced by the shock-absorbing seats, the Voltari 260 nonetheless has plenty of living space to accommodate family and friends: three rear seats, a cockpit with two seats and two seats in front of the console.

A high-end positioning
Designed with luxury - alcantara, seadeck, 17-inch Garmin screens, teak bathing platform - it also comes with several services: a 10-year warranty on the hull and 7-day technical assistance with a technician sent out within 72 hours. This must partly justify the selling price of $450,000, or 416,835 euros.
