Rio Yachts enters the Mediterranean maxi-rib market

The Italian shipyard Rio Yachts, which has been producing cabin cruisers and motorboats for 61 years, is entering the RIB market, and more specifically the maxi-Rib. Two ranges are planned, and the first 11-meter-long model will be unveiled at the Fall Boat Shows in September 2022.

Two ranges of semi-rigid to come

With 141 models produced and a great deal of experience in rigid hulls, the 60-year-old Rio Yachts shipyard is launching the maxi-Rib with two ranges, Inagua and Exuma. The first model, presented at Cannes in 2022, is the Inagua S, an 11-meter-long RIB. Its design is inspired by the Italian shipyard's flagship models, the Daytona 34 and 46. This entry-level model was designed by Marino Alfani, who has already created several Rio Yachts designs. He based his design on three key elements to distinguish himself from the competition, which is tough in this sector:

  • The floats
  • The console
  • The T-Top

A typical Mediterranean semi-rigid

Thus, the floats do not have the conventional round shape of RIBs, but are truncated at the rear, as can be seen on Capelli RIBs. The console has been designed to offer an ergonomic steering. Finally, the lightweight T-Top is positioned directly on the leaning-post behind the two helm seats.

The Inagua S is clearly designed for relaxation and socializing with a sundeck in the bow and aft, a protected U-shaped bench seat, a toilet in the console and generous bathing platforms.

Approved in category B and able to embark up to 16 people, this model will receive two 300 hp outboards and could reach a maximum speed of 50 knots. The range will include several models, including the largest of 18 m in length.
