few days before the start of the Transat Jacques Vabre 2021, Apivia Macif Mutuelle has just announced the extension of its partnership with Charlie Dalin. But above all, the construction of a new IMOCA boat for the 2024 Vendée Globe.

A new IMOCA by Verdier

Only two years after the launch of Apivia 1 and a first victory in the Transat Jacques Vabre, Charlie Dalin and his partner Apivia Macif Mutuelle who will attempt the double on this 2021 edition - are launching the construction of a new boat. The 2024 Vendée Globe is in their sights.

The conception and design have been entrusted to Guillaume Verdier, architect already chosen for the first Apivia. MerConcept engineers will also be involved in the project; the entity will also manage the sports project in Concarneau, the boat's home port.

"When you've already designed your first boat, you have a lot of experience. That's great. We have a lot of data. We don't start from scratch. But we don't try to optimize what has already been done. We try to find something else, to look for other concepts. I got along very well with Charlie. He is also an architect, we speak the same language. It's nice to work with people like that explains Guillaume Verdier.

A victory in the Vendée Globe 2024

Until 2026, Charlie Dalin will participate in many races of the circuit, including the Route du Rhum 2022 and 2026, the Transat Jacques Vabre 2023 and 2025 and of course the Vendée Globe 2024, which Charlie Dalin hopes to be the winner after his 2nd place in 2020

"I am very happy to continue the adventure alongside Apivia Macif Mutuelle. I would like to thank all of the elected officials, employees and members who have been with me since the beginning and I am proud of the trust that has been placed in me once again for this new project. I am looking forward to this new program, which is a continuation of the project initiated in 2018, with the same performanceeuro goals! I am full of determination for the races that are coming, strong of these last three years on the circuit, there are still many great things to write on board APIVIAeuros!" explains Charlie Dalin.

While Alan Roura has just announced the acquisition of Hugo Boss Apivia joins Charal on the list of IMOCA boats for sale. Could it be Clarisse Crémereuros' new 60-foot monohull?
