Iron 767, the Nordic open hull developed by offshore pilots

The Iron 767 is currently the largest model from the Swedish brand Iron Boats, whose range consists of modern, high-performance open hulls. Simple and well equipped as standard, it will be the ally of your different programs, from speed, to towed sports or lounging.

A range of 4 models

Iron Boats is a Swedish shipyard launched by two brothers, offshore racing pilots. In the catalog: 4 models of 6.47 m, 7.07 m, 7.67 m - discovered at the Grand Pavois in La Rochelle - and a forthcoming model of 8.27 m declined in a Coupé version, instead of the usual open hulls of the brand.

A characteristic and typically Scandinavian design

The Iron 767 has a typical Scandinavian design with slim, sleek lines, as seen on the Axopars, and a clean, modern design. Its 2.44 m beam makes it an easily transportable boat. But what sets it apart is the imposing fender that surrounds the hull, whose freeboard height makes it safe to sail and move. It also plays two roles, that of protection, but also that of sound and dynamic damper during navigation. Because the Iron 767 - like all the models in the range - has a hull derived from sportboats - a V-racing hull - to ensure performance and speed, while being very agile and maneuverable.

Great performances

With a 300 hp Mercury XS Pro engine, the boat has a top speed of 56 knots. But the shipyard recommends a power of 225 hp, which will give it a maximum speed of 45 knots, already more than enough to have fun. Jérôme, owner of the model on display, tells us that he opted for this power, and consumes an average of 12.8 L/h at cruising speed.

A simple and well equipped deck plan

The deck design is the same for all 3 existing models, from the console to the bow. Thus, there is a bow seat covering a storage locker at the front. An electric windlass is under development. A second seat overhangs a second very large storage locker in which cushions are easily stored. All the seats can be transformed into a front sundeck by adding a plate and a cushion.

The console is central and well protected by a long windshield. It houses all the on-board electronics, including a 12-inch screen. The bench seat with two flip-up seats provides an optimal driving position, close to the steering wheel.

In the back, our model has a square opposite, with a rear bench seat covering another storage compartment. A table (optional) allows you to enjoy a meal. Our model was also equipped with the optional non-slip floor. The Iron 767 comes standard with a ski pole, ideal for fun on the water. The nice sized skirts also allow for easy access to the water or motor.

Few options in the catalog

The Iron 767 comes in three different colors: black, gray and white and can be equipped with a T-Top. Few options are offered - sunbathing, table or electronics - since the boat is very well equipped. With a modern look, a simple and practical deck layout, and good quality finishes, the Iron 767 is worth a visit. All that remains is to validate its good seaworthy behavior at sea.
