Seavy 11, a new modular and high performance motor catamaran

À Sea Venture Yachting is a new player in the motor catamaran market, based in Canet-en-Roussillon. Their first project is an 11m catamaran designed by Yacht Design Collective, the Seavy 11.

A modular, safe and high-performance motor catamaran

"The motor catamaran is in full development and we saw an opportunity to enter the market. In particular in sizes smaller than 12 meters. We initially wanted to launch a 9m dayboat with performance similar to a monohull, but in the end, we wanted to offer living space in each of the hulls, so we could accommodate two couples." explains Benjamin Canler, co-founder of the company.

In the Seavy 11 specification, two key points:

  • Modularity.

The boat is available in several versions: open, closed, forward cockpit, decked foredeck, outboard, inboard or electric. A professional version is also under development.

  • Safety and performance.

To guarantee a seaworthy behavior, especially in difficult conditions with swell, hydrodynamic studies were carried out on the hull to obtain a hull which passes impeccably in the sea.

Three living spaces to enjoy the sea

On the deck, there are up to three living spaces. Starting with a decked foredeck or a forward cockpit accessible through an opening in the windshield, which can be transformed into a sundeck. The cockpit is located on the starboard side behind the large windshield and offers a co-pilot seat. The latter is protected by a large hard-top in the Open version. At the rear, there is a kitchen unit (refrigerator, work surface, fridge-sink, hot plate or plancha), a saloon opposite with a large U-shaped bench seat at the rear. Finally, an imposing sunbathing area (which houses the tender garage) overhangs the bathing platform. To enlarge the cockpit space, the bulwarks open at anchor.

Access to the hulls is from side companionways located behind the cockpit. Each hull offers a double bed, a bathroom and a toilet. A large side window brings luminosity and ventilation with opening panels.

Open or closed version

The Seavy 11 is also available in a "closed" version with a larger windshield in the extension of the large hard top. A canopy is attached to the windshield to completely enclose the cockpit. On board, there are many storage lockers, especially in the "Beach" version (decked bow) which offers a space of 1,500 L in the bow.

"Always in this spirit of modularity, we can interchange the hard-top of the open version with that of the closed version while keeping the same pillars. Thus, we can sail in the summer in the open version and opt for the closed version for the colder days" says Benjamin Canler.

Several types of propulsion and many options

Concerning the motorization, several options are also proposed. In outboard, Suzuki or Mercury with a maximum power of 2x400 hp Mercury. Inboard, Mercury Diesel or Yanmar with a maximum power of 2x370 hp. The estimated cruising speed is 35 knots and the maximum speed between 40 and 45 knots.

At maximum inboard power and a speed of 40 knots, total consumption is estimated at 68l/hour.

The electric version - currently under study - will certainly offer a maximum speed of 15 knots to guarantee the safety of passengers in case of need. This propulsion will be proposed mainly for the professional version.

Several option packs (Flex/Exclusive/Exclusive Plus) will also be offered for even more equipment and comfort on board, such as a watermaker, a generator, an audio pack, etc.

The Seavy 11 will be built in France, in Canet-en-Roussillon, and marketed at 480,000 euros (excluding VAT) with 2x300 hp Mercury. The Seavy 11 will be presented at the Cannes boat show in September 2021 in the form of a model; the molds will arrive at the shipyard at the end of the year for a first boat launched in February 2022. A 9-meter and a 50-foot model are also planned.
