Test / Solaris 55, beautiful, good and lots of fun

During our test of the Solaris 55 in the bay of Saint-Tropez, we experienced great sailing sensations, even in very light breezes, on a high performance machine with very high level custom finishes. Very aesthetic and functional from every point of view.

The SOLARIS 55 responds to a specification that could not be simpler: to satisfy the most demanding customers in terms of performance, aesthetics, quality and functionality, whether with a reduced crew for elegant cruising or with a racing crew to line up with beautiful international classics. If the concept is clear, its realization proves to be arduous and classifies this yacht among the exceptional units in this top-of-the-range racing-cruising category.

Careful development

Saloris 55, du très haut de gamme

In order to achieve its goals, the brand has been working for more than a year and a half in its Design Office in collaboration with the architect Javier Soto Acebal. Several characteristics emanate from this work. Tight lines with the master beam set back at the stern; stability and righting moment optimised thanks to the T-keel ratio (lead bulb and steel sail) of 40% and the chine hull; a very slender rigging served by a manoeuvring plan concentrated around the helm stations; XXL storage capacities for navigational gear; a spacious interior with 3 cabins and a seaman's cabin that can be fitted out in the sail locker.

An interesting architectural feature

Des safrans très angulés
Highly angled rudders

From the quay, it is easy to notice the very strong outer square of the bisafrans. So strong, that an unavoidable question to the Brazilian architect confirms us an angle of 27°. This strong angulation surprises us and augurs well for an excellent control of the heel and makes our mouth water, or rather the sea under the bow, before we even set foot on deck.

The master asset of the site

Une technique de fabrication digne des plus grands yachts
A manufacturing technique worthy of the greatest yachts

Since 1974, the date of its creation, Solaris yachts has built up a fine reputation for producing mass-produced boats with the quality of custom-built yachts. The insulation of the engine room is a demonstrative example of what is done on the most beautiful motoryachts. More generally, the level of manufacturing is very high and uses top-of-the-range materials with very sophisticated techniques incorporating a large safety margin. Structural bulkheads, chainplates, deck fittings reinforcements are laminated to the hull and the cabinetwork finishes are robust as well as light and refined. The recent delivery of the 93' Wally yacht confirms the competence of the teams to carry out work of the highest quality.
