Saffier Yachts, a shipbuilder based in the Netherlands, has made a name for its range of elegant daysailers designed to be manoeuvred single-handed and fast. The Saffier SE 27 Leisure completes the range by offering the same concept in an 8.20 m long hull. There is the large sunbathing area at the stern, the small windscreen surrounding the companionway and the long teak foredeck.
Approved in category C, the Saffier SE 227 Leisure is well suited to a coastal or inland waterway day cruising programme. Its large cockpit can accommodate up to 8 people. At the stern, a large sundeck allows you to laze at anchor, under which there is plenty of storage space for the fenders, swim ladder and refrigerator.
Two steering systems are available: wheel steering or tiller steering. In all cases, all manoeuvres are brought back to helm station level, facilitating single-handed navigation. As standard, the Saffier SE 27 Leisure is equipped with a self-tacking jib and a fixed keel with a draft of 1.40m. Two other options are available: a "race" keel with a draft of 1.65 m and a short draft keel (1.05 m) with two rudders.
At the front of the cockpit two benches with high backrests allow you to enjoy the navigation comfortably. It is possible to set up a table to enjoy lunch outside, which can also be moved inside.
For lighter weight, the boat is equipped as standard with a Torqeedo 4.0 POD electric motor with a Power 48-5000 lithium battery. This combination will allow her to sail for about 5 hours with the motor (manufacturer's data). It is also possible to choose a thermal propulsion (diesel).
Inside, the small cabin has a double berth at the front (a toilet is installed under the cushions) and two side benches that also serve as bunks. The headroom is very low, but the aim is not to spend a holiday there. It will be appreciated to be able to store things in a dry place and to be able to take shelter there in case of need. As an option, a kitchen cabinet (1350 euros) can also be installed.
To maintain the boat's sleek and clean lines, the Saffier SE 27 Leisure is stripped of lines and has retractable cleats. With a neo-classical and racy design, it should offer in its race version quite honourable performances even if it doesn't have the ambition of very high speeds.
Many customizations are proposed by the shipyard, from the hull color, to the choice of sail materials, keel types, motorization or even the type of helm. The Saffier SE 27 Leisure is priced at 74?500 euros excluding VAT with electric propulsion.
