Leader 12.5 WA, a sports dayboat

The Leader 12.5 WA

The French manufacturer Jeanneau will launch the largest model in its Leader range, the 12.5 WA, in December. The latter will be offered in triple outboard motorization, a first for the Vendée shipyard.

Leader, an evolving range

Through its Leader range, Jeanneau is positioning itself on a market that is evolving upwards. "The 5/6m models that used to be the core market are still selling, but our core range is now the 7/8m segment" explains Merry de la Poëze, Motorboat Product Manager.

Following this logic, the French manufacturer will present the Leader 12.5 WA, the largest model in the range, in Paris in December 2019. This 11.90m model will be available as an outboard and twin engine or even triple engine, a first for Jeanneau?!

"We're following the logic of the Leader range, which we've evolved since the renewal of the range 5 or 6 years ago, to bigger models, offering a 7m, an 8m and a 10m."

The Leader 10.5 WA

The largest model in the range

After the success of the 10.5 WA, both in France and internationally, Jeanneau has decided to push even further with this new model. "With the 10.5 WA, we have created a new market by offering a boat that can be used for family boating, fishing, but also for short cruises. This did not exist in the US market, but was popular in Europe. We had a strong demand for an even bigger model, hence the launch of the 12.5 WA."

Thus was born the Leader 12.5 WA, a sporty but comfortable boat, which offers 3 cabins as well as an outboard motorization. Important boat for the construction site. "It's a pure dayboat sport. It's both a boat to sail for a day with family and friends, but also a real cruise ship." explains Vincent Piel, head of the motorboat product range.

In the spirit of the 10.5 WA

The Leader 12.5 WA is inspired by the spirit of the Leader 10.5 WA but with more upscale services. The codes are the same - Sarrazin Design for the design and Michael Peters for the stepless V-shaped hull.

The interior has more or less the same features, namely a full-width aft cabin, a beautiful saloon forward and a deck layout with living areas, one forward and one aft.

On this model, Jeanneau integrates two particularities:

  • An electric bulwark that can be lowered to enlarge the cockpit space
  • An opposite front lounge

A powerful boat

The Leader 12.5 will be able to accommodate up to 900 horsepower (2x450 hp or 3x300 hp) and according to the first tests - the boat is already sailing in Poland with twin engines - the boat reaches 50 knots.
