A new 300 hp outboard engine in the Suzuki range

Suzuki Marine has decided to expand its V6 range from the bottom up. After the 350 hp and 325 hp, it is now the 300 hp that was presented at the 2019 autumn shows. Presentation of this new model while waiting for the tests.

Suzuki is expanding its Geki range of outboard engines. In 2017, the Japanese automaker chose to present the highest power on this 4.4-litre V6 block with 350 hp. After the arrival of a 325 hp, he launched the DF300B.

Suzuki DF300B

This engine incorporates the technological advances of its big brother. Among the main ones, we will find the double helix in counter-rotation which cancels the torque of the engine in the direction and which allows a better transmission of this torque by leaning on 2 propeller blades simultaneously. On the hood, the air intake has double fins to facilitate the supply of cold air and prevent moisture ingress. Note that the sound design has been reworked on this new version of the outboard. On the power supply side, the engine is equipped with 2 injectors per cylinder to ensure better efficiency and lower fuel consumption. Finally, the double water inlet in the base plate ensures good cooling and limits the size of the water pump.

This new DF300B is mainly designed for large and heavy boats, both for pleasure craft and professionals. It is interesting to note that the DF300AP, launched in 2012, will remain in the catalogue in parallel with the new model. This V6 engine also has a smaller displacement (4 litres) and a conventional base plate (single propeller). Lighter by 40 kg, it will be better suited for smaller boats looking for less torque.

Comparing the 2 models (DF300AP and the new DF300B) we will notice that despite the additional 400 cm3, the new one does not consume more, but offers a gain of 1 knot in top speed and a better acceleration.

The new DF300B will be available from spring 2020 at a price of 31,000 euros including VAT (with both propellers). In comparison, the DF300AP costs 28,800 euros including VAT (with its propeller) and the DF325A is offered at 33,000 euros including VAT (with its 2 propellers).
