Solaris 48 Power, a daycruiser designed for long cruising

The Solaris Power 48

The Solaris 48 Power is the 2nd model of Solaris Power, a subsidiary of the Italian manufacturer Solaris Yachts, known for its elegant 40 to 110 foot sailboats. This 14.35 m long dayboat has spacious interior and exterior fittings and looks more like a motorboat designed for long sun cruises.

A second model in the Solaris Power range

Solaris Yacht, manufacturer of elegant sailboats made in Italy, announced at the Cannes 2018 boat show the launch of a range of motorboats inspired by lobster boats, American fishing boats. The Solaris Power 55 was launched in mid-May 2019 in Italy and will be presented next September in Cannes, at the same time as the Solaris Power 48 Open.

This second model - in total Solaris Power will launch 4 models: 46, 55, 76 and 88 - will be available in Hard Top and Flying Bridge versions. Like its big brother, it was designed by Norberto Ferretti, founder of the Ferretti group, Brunello Acampora, specialist in hulls optimised for IPS propulsion and Giuseppe Giuliani, who bought the Solaris Yachts group in 2011 after selling the Dufour Yachts group to an American investment fund in 2006.

Many formidable features

This daycruiser offers comfortable spaces, both inside and out. Like the Solaris Power 55, this model focuses on navigation skills, functionality and safety. Characteristics that according to the manufacturer, will allow it to cruise long distances in bad weather, in total safety with a great autonomy. It should be able to navigate efficiently at low speeds, but also at speeds above 35 knots. A mix between displacement and gliding hulls.

Other features include reduced fuel consumption and therefore better range, reduced CO2 emissions, improved manoeuvrability thanks to joysticks, reduced noise and zero vibration and high stability even at anchor.

A daycruiser with two cabins

For maximum comfort and habitability, Norberto Ferretti has designed an open walkaround that offers the same cabin space as a cabin cruiser. Thus, two types of arrangements are proposed. In both cases, there is an owner's cabin installed across the entire width of the boat, which houses two dressing rooms and a dressing area as well as a private bathroom. Windows provide natural daylight.

In the first version, a 2nd cabin with twin beds, porthole and access to the bathroom is available, while in the 2nd version, a comfortable lounge completes the interior layout. A hatch at the bow gives access to the skipper's cabin, which has its own bathroom.

Many outdoor living areas

Outside, the layout is functional. On the main deck, forward, there is a large sunbathing area with headrest. The cockpit has numerous navigation instruments, joystick and a complete dashboard, as well as two touch screens that can be configured according to the owners' needs.

The kitchen is installed behind the steering station and supports the carbon T-Top. In the cockpit, a dining area with two facing benches with a central table and a very large sunbathing area follows. Note the bulwarks, which transform into beautiful side terraces and enlarge the space by 20%.

At the rear, the bathing platform is equipped with an 80 cm retractable ladder and a deck shower. A spacious garage is available to store a tender, fenders and other water toys.

Two choices of drives

Two engine choices are available: VOLVO IPS 600 or 650, with a maximum speed of more than 35 knots. Cruising at an average speed of 20 knots, the range is about 300 miles.
