For the past 7 years, the Underwater Photography Guide magazine has been organizing a worldwide underwater photography competition. The prestigious Ocean Art competition highlights the extraordinary creatures that live there.
The best photo of the competition - The Best of Show - features three splendid manta rays performing a "ballet", all in a delicate ambient light. Other snapshots include extraordinary fish, or even surprising underwater life, rare underwater animal behaviour, breathtaking portraits, seals, marine adventures, whales and moving moments between humans and animals, all with innovative shooting techniques.
The judges - prestigious underwater photographers - received thousands of applications from 70 countries before selecting the final images. The level was very high, making selection very difficult.
Sixteen different categories allow all photographers to participate. All levels and disciplines of underwater photography, including compact, digital and SLR cameras, are represented. This year, photographers could compete in a new category called "Underwater Art."
