An art contest to invent the sailing ship of the future

The association Windship launches a contest for children to imagine the sailing ship of the future. A great opportunity for sailors, artists and inventors to use their imagination, to create the vessel that will revolutionize maritime transport, using the artistic method of their choice.

Imagining the sailing ship of the future

On the occasion of the Wind for Goods event, a meeting dedicated to the development of maritime transport under sail, the Wind Ship association and Nantes Saint-Nazaire, which is hosting the conference, are launching a competition for children. Entitled "Draw me the sailing ship of the future", it invites young artists to imagine the boat of the future. As we see many maritime transport projects under sail flourish, from Grain de Sail to TOWT, including Neoline cargo ships and Michelin's new Wisamo inflatable sails, the return of wind power is no longer a distant utopia. However, the imagination of children will surely bring new ideas!

Free artistic techniques

Contestants must send their work to poster@wind-ship.fr by May 12, 2023. They can choose the technique that suits them: drawing, photo or short video. It must be accompanied by a title and a short caption of 30 words maximum.

Winners will be chosen for each media, with 4 age categories: 2-5 years, 6-11 years, 12-15 years and 16-17 years. There will be no cash or in-kind awards, but they will have their work displayed and will be notified of Wind Ship Association events and sailboat calls in their countries.
