European Powerboat of The Year 2019: 4 travel boats

Find the four nominated motor boats in the travel boat category. More commonly known as trawlers, these boats are distinguished by their great habitability and comfort for living on board.

Travel boats - trawlers - are very livable boats, designed for life on board. Here, no need for speed. We are looking for the comfort of life on board, efficient propulsion and safety.

Steeler NG 65 S

For the past five years, Steeler Yacht has been nominated for the European Motor Boat of the Year Award. In 2019, the Steeler NG 65 S, a 19.50 m trawler, was selected. This model has a very large cockpit and a large lounge on the main deck. Under the bridge, there are four cabins, a very large equipped kitchen and three bathrooms.

Many options are available from the Dutch shipyard to adapt the boat. For example, you can choose a flybridge or adapt its model adapted to people with reduced mobility, as is the case with the nominated model.

The patented hull shape of the S-design models guarantees a particularly fuel-efficient cruising speed of 8 knots (3 l/m nautical mile) and a top speed of 13 knots with a minimum bow wave.

Linssen 45 Sedan

Here too, the Dutch shipyard is a regular nominee in the category of displacement boats. It was the Grand Sturdy 40.0 Sedan that won the title in 2018. This year, 45 Sedan is competing as the European boat of the year.

This 45.0 AC sistership has a spacious lounge that combines with the cockpit once the glass doors are open to create a huge living space. This travel boat has a new hull inspired by the Grand Sturdy 500 AC Variotop. This new patented shell shape, the Softchine Prestressed Hull (SPH), guarantees less resistance, less noise and less fuel consumption when sailing.

On the layout side - which is almost on the same level - there are two cabins (one double and one with two separate beds) and two bathrooms.

Holterman 53 Commander

This new model from Holterman Yachting was designed by the design firm Trimm design and launched in the summer of 2017. Inside, it feels like a luxurious 60s loft with quality materials and finishes, but also a lot of space. The very bright interiors are a real invitation to life on the water.

But if the interior is "old", the exterior and hull lines contrast with a modern design and in particular this tulip-shaped bow, very thin at the water inlets and widening upwards.

Silent 55

The Silent 55 is not a Trawler but a 16.70 m long and 8.46 m wide catamaran. His caractéristique?? Its roof of solar panels, because the Silent 55 is a catamaran that runs on solar energy. His programme?? A silent, emission-free cruise with unlimited autonomy.

This catamaran is available in five different layout versions: 3 to 6 cabins and four engine versions: Cruiser, E-Power, Hybrid Power and Sailor.
