Slip into the shoes of a Sea Rescuer at the Nautic 2017

The SNSM on the Nautic 2016

The Société Nationale des Sauveteurs en Mer (SNSM) will be present at the Nautic de Paris 2017 (2 to 10 December 2017 at the Porte de Versailles Exhibition Centre). Installed in Hall 1 on a 315 m2 stand, the association will be exhibiting various rescue means and will introduce the general public to the organisation of sea rescue.

Try your hand at being a lifeguard at sea

The SNSM will be present at the 2017 Paris Boat Show in Hall 1 to raise public awareness of sea rescue. To do so, the association will allow visitors to practice rescuing people and put themselves in the shoes of a sea rescuer. An animation will allow volunteers - major or minor - accompanied by an adult - who know how to swim to practice in a pool to save a person. This sensitive operation will be supervised by the Rescue Swimmers of the Paris Ile de France Training and Intervention Centre, who will provide advice. Each volunteer will be accompanied by a lifeguard to form a shock pair.

To participate, you will need to register with Laura Migné ( laura.migne@snsm.org ) and come to the lounge on Saturday, December 9 from 3 to 4 pm around the pool in Hall 1, in bathing suit and towel. Wetsuits will be on loan from the boat show and the SNSM.

Discover a rescue boat at sea

The SNSM will present to the public the SNS 161 lifeboat President Pierre Huby, a 1st class new generation lifeboat. From 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 1:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., the public will be able to visit it and talk with the Sauveteurs en Mer present. They will be able to discover how nautical resources work, and better understand the organisation of sea rescue and its current challenges.

Experience a virtual rescue

For those who don't want to put on their swimsuit and jump in the deep end, the SNSM uses virtual reality. With a helmet allowing 360° vision, visitors will be able to discover a rescue carried out by lifeguards on board in the open sea, and a rescue carried out by rescue swimmers on the beach.
