With the Fjord 36 Xpress, the German shipyard is attacking the outboard market

The first outboard model from the Fjord yard, the 36 Xpress

The German shipyard Fjord (HanseYachts group) will present at the Cannes Yachting Festival the new Fjord 36 Xpress, its first outboard model. A playful and efficient novelty for a new sailing program.

Fjord continues to develop its range with the arrival of its first outboard model, the 36 Xpress (11.32 m), whose deck layout remains relatively similar to the 36 Open (released in 2011). This expansion of the range meets an increasingly strong demand from the brand's prospects and customers. The new engine also makes it possible to widen the sailing area (since the engines can be raised and therefore sail in less accessible areas), but also to offer a more affordable price than the inboard model.

This top-of-the-range launch has the same features as the 36 Open, namely a straight bow and a deep V-shaped hull. It also has the same principle, i.e. an accessible deck and a volume that can be used throughout the boat. The main difference is in the cockpit, where the aft deck (the main feature of the Fjord) disappears to make way for two platforms on either side of the engine.

On the front deck, there's a U-shaped sofa that faces a bench that sits next to the centre console. The latter - protected by a t-top - is framed by a large sloping windscreen and has two pilot and co-pilot seats. It also houses the cabin entrance on the port side. Below deck, there is a double cabin, a toilet with shower and a galley, as well as storage space on the port side with a refrigerator.

The cockpit is occupied by a table with two benches (optional). By lowering the table and the backrest of the aft bench seat, the saloon can be transformed into a large sundeck. As standard, the cockpit is occupied by a passenger bench seat that leaves the rear of the cockpit clear. Finally, under the t-top (optional), an outside kitchen (optional) with sink and refrigerator allows you to take your meals.

Like all Fjord models, the layout is modular and adapts to the owner's needs.

With this new model, the German shipyard hopes to seduce another clientele by offering a boat with a different use than the 36 Open. The idea is to offer a playful model capable of venturing into shallow areas with all the advantages of an outboard motor: beacher, anchoring close to the shore, going up rivers..

The Fjord 36 Xpress also promises to be a high-performance boat, with two choices of engines. She will be equipped with two Mercury Verado (2x300 HP or 2x350 HP) for speeds between 39 knots with the first engine and 45 knots with the second. The electro-hydraulic servo system promises direct and comfortable steering, even at high speeds.

The Fjord 36 Xpress is available from 129 900 euros HT without engine. It will have its world premiere at the Cannes Yachting Festival, from 12 to 17 September 2017.
